I don't mean the best film you've ever seen, but the one you liked/loved the most...
It could be crappy low budget, horribly sentimental, disgustingly gorey or even have Barbara Streisand in it, but tell us why you like your choice so much...

I'll start off with "Old Boy" - It's got (IMO) the finest cinematography I've ever seen, possibly only equaled by the directors (Park Chan Wook) other films; including one segment from The Three Extremes and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance.
Incredible acting, fantastic musical score. I just cant recommend this highly enough, it really is the film with everything - but as a warning, it is very harsh in places and has some absolutely shame inducing plot devices that make your stomach heave...

I really can't decide my favourite movie or movies, but have to join th3-mute's thoughts about the "Oldboy". That was great and really different movie, which cannot compared to any other. I could also recommend it, but not for a sensible viewers...

Oldboy @IMDB

^ Awesome movie, made me want to be irish, get a black peacoat and start smoking. Willem dafoe was awesome in it.

I hated those stupid CGI wolves, they looked like they should be in the Lord of the Rings...
Actually, I hated Dennis Quaid (i think he was the star) in it aswell.

I did like the tidal wave though :)

---------------------------------

Terry Gilliam does fantastic films, there's a couple of his I'd include in my top 25...
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen and The Fisher King were both awesome aswell.

I'd have to put Full Metal Jacket ahead of Platoon though, for war films - Stanley Kubrick being an
astounding director aswell :)

Two guys that lose their car, something to do with Aliens and frat boy style parties? One of them is the kid from The Butterfly Effect and the other is from American Pie (correct me if im wrong) ?

If ya like that style, then watch Tom Greens' "Freddy Got Fingered". It's brutal comedy ;) The man is like a walking South Park episode when he goes for it!

Pink Velvet 1 (closely followed by 2 and 3).

Apart from those, I don't really know. I can watch the Star Wars movies (at least the first three/last three, you know, those that were made first) pretty much as many times as I want without getting bored. All the Bond movies rock. I was really impressed by the Resident Evil films. Then again, I've almost not watched any other zombie movies. And on the other hand there were some movies that kinda got under my skin the first time I watched them, like Dogville, and even La dolce vita, but they will probably be pretty boring to watch again.

actually I have no movie I liked most :S but IMO:
The best asia-style martial arts movie was "hero".
The best animated movie/s was/were "the lions king 1,2 and 1 1/2"

There are by far too many good movies to be mentioned :S

One odd film that i warmly recommend for everyone here is "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead", a movie seen from the perspective of two of the supporting characters in Hamlet. It's really too odd to describe it well, it's a lot of philosophy and 'breaking the fourth wall' stuff. The cast is just awesome with two of the best (maybe just the two best) actors in the world in the leading roles, Gary Oldman and Tim Roth. Just plain great.

Not seen TZ or SS5, but yeah, he's an amazing actor... Zatoichi was genius aswell, though the director (and other star) is almost a god in Asian film making: Takeshi Kitano. Great director, great actor.

I have to say though, I'll utterly defend No Country for Old Men, by the Cohen Brothers. If it had came out 6 weeks later it'd definately be the best film of 2008, as it is, I'm hard pushed to think of a better film in 2007.

Gotta give you honours for those two Magisk: Gary Oldman and Tim Roth are indeed two of the finest actors ever. Tim Roth in Reservoir Dogs still gives me chills even if the film's lost most of it's appeal (seen it too many times). Back in the days when Tarantino could still make a film that wasn't 2hours of "i'm so clever" dialogue and girls toes...

Fear and Loathing, yeah Pim, I'd put it in my top 10 or 12 probably ;) Also seen it 'quite a few' times... *cough*

Planet Terror was awesome old fashioned cheesey ultra violence comedy gore cleavage nonsense, in the best taste :) Rodriguez has FAR more fun than Tarantino when he makes films (I think...). Tarantino is obsessed with TRYING to have witty dialogue and women doing their toenails - I'm fucking sick of Tarantino tbh; best scene ever? Tarantino in Planet Terror as his dick melts to the floor just before he gets wasted... Awesome :) (shame he was acting, the over-rated arrogant cockstain that he is...).

Crash, you mean the David Cronenberg film with James Spader? If so, then yeah, it's bleak but excellent - Like most of the films he directs...

Adam Sandler was also in P.T.Anderson's "Punch Drunk Love", which quite genuinely IS a masterpiece.

In that one performance he showed that he's capable of much more than the irritable but sweet natured all American boy...
