Not to mention stickers! I got at least 10 MHz out of my ASUS sticker!

P.S. I had an acrylic case once but it was running quite hot despite three fans. Metal radiates heat much better, in the end (otherwise what would hothouses be good for?)... I also had some red cathodes which turned out be rather pink and an ultraviolet one (with UV-active cables). Coupled with some LEDs in the fans my computer truly looked like a gay bar. :-D
Sadly I haven't got any pictures of it. :-(

K, I've got Zalman, Arctic Cooling, Sound Blaster, Giagabyte and AMD sticker that all sums up to like 150MHz. Plus HUGE tower which I use as a small stand for my router and dvd with porn - another 20MHz.

Anyone here still got good old 6600GT 128MB? ^^ Hey, I play TF2 with full (almost) details, Trilinear, No AA, 1280x1024. I don't need anything better :)

I'm a huge enthusiast. Also a very active member of Overclock.net forums (feel free to join if you want a fantastic overclocking community) :D

My gaming rig:

Mobo: MSI P35 Platinum
CPU: Intel Core2Duo E6850 3.6Ghz
RAM: 4GB OCZ DDR2
GPU: 8800GT 512MB Overclocked
Sound: Creative Audigy2 Platinum Sound
Case: Antec Sonata III
Monitor: 22" Viewsonic
OS: Vista x64-bit

I play TF2 at 1680x1050 with max settings and 8x AA.

Future upgrades will include a better case and potentially either a new ATI 4870 or eventually the 4870x2.

My rig is pretty much built for silence, and I'm a lurker on the SPCR forums. Computer noise is for me one of the worst sounds in the world.

case: P180
mobo: Asus P5W-Deluxe (the downside with my board is that it FUCKS UP wi-fi. I get lag stutters all the time despite 100mbit fiber connection).
cpu: C2D E6600 with a Scythe Ninja heatsink
ram: 4gb of something I forget the name of.
sfx: Audigy 2
gpu: Geforce 7900 GT with a Zalman VF700 CU
two 21" samsung monitors @ 1600x1200 each.
and a hacked version of windows xp which has removed almost eeeeeeevverything (the cd is 130 mb) except the very bare essentials. runs much smoother. Next best thing to linux I guess (which I wish they would make games for).

In the case I've got 4 nexus real silent fans and wind tunnel setup that is nearly identical to this
http://www.silentpcreview.com/article672-page1.html
I can only hear my computer if everything is DEAD silent, and I mean dead silent. If even my window is open and I can hear leaves rustling in the trees outside I have to put my ear to the case to even notice that it's on.

My next rig I will probably be able to be put in a sort of closet though, so I can have louder components and overclock it without hearing it anyway.

Ah yes, I went the silent route, until I realised its a pain to keep everything cool enough. I have 3 120mm fans inside my case which need to be quite audible in order to effectively cool the case.

E6850 @ 3.6Ghz (with Tuniq 120), 8800GT and 4 x 1GB RAM can get quite hot!!

Umm...tough one, it varies depending on the map and number of players. Usually never drops below 40, but I average around 70-80 FPS on a busy server. I definitely find TF2 to be quite CPU intensive.

I'm having to run my CPU at stock 3.0Ghz for the time being, as its summer and temps can be a problem.

Damn jinja ninja, your FPS should be WAY WAY higher than that considering what rig you have. It shouldn't even come near dropping to 40.

Well with full settings, 8xCSAA, 16xAF, 1680x1050, it can get quite intensive.

Then again, I haven't really checked my latest FPS anyways.

At the end of the day, when you have a huge fire-fight going on with 10+ players, it will bring most computers to its knees.

I will try out my latest FPS and report back :D

that video card ain't that big of a hotshot either, so i'm not amazed by it dropping to 40 fps on those settings in heavy battle.
Good choice for next vid card ninja, I have the 3870x2 right now and it's a very freaking sweet card, every day I start a game I'm glad I don't have those over expensive nvidia cards anymore

Definately. When you consider that the 4870 and 4870x2 are on par, or in some cases, faster than Nvidia's 280 GTX AND cost 20-40% less, its a no brainer.

ATI have really done some amazing things this time round. Nvidia has released a powerful card, yes, but nobody can afford that bloody thing!

Not to mention the fact that if you want to buy it you'll probably need to shell out cash on a new power supply and what not. Hell, I don't even know if it would fit on my motherboard, it's a monster.

I find the best way to describe it is:

GTX 280 = American Car - Heavy, Powerful, but not agile or efficient

ATI 4870 = German Car - Efficient Power, more agile/flexible

Well - that's how it is in the computer industry. All the companies have their ups and downs. You'd be stupid to fanatically stick to one brand no matter what even though some fanboys still do it. E.g. when AMD made cheaper and better processors than Intel I had an AMD Athlon, then, when Intel made its comeback with Core2Duos I got myself an Intel CPU. ^^

I go with Lim-Dul... always put your flag into the better wind. Altough I'm prefering ATI concering gfx. Dunno why... they are just more likeable. So I've got 2 PCs... one Intel+ATI and one AMD+ATI. :)

Well I do love German cars. Especially more than American cars, though that wouldn't exactly be hard.

Sometimes... Both companies price performance varies from generation to generation. E.g. you would have to have been a totally crazy fanboy to buy an ATI card in the GF8 era because NVIDIA totally pwned the competition and even its previous efforts in that one...

Its all swings and roundabouts with graphics cards.

Remember the GeforceFX era? ATI with it's Radeon 9700/9800 series wiped the floor with Nvidia.

Things were equal for a while with the GeForce 6/7 series and ATI's X1000 series cards.

Then Nvidia released the killer 8-series which severely damaged ATIs reputation. Its quite fair to say that the 8-series was, in terms of real world performance, leaps better than ATI's Radeon 2000 and 3000 series.

Only now has ATI caught up with its 4000 series and quite easily keeps up with Nvidia's GTX 280 and 260 offerings.

If anyone is looking for a new card now - get the Radeon 4870 (or 4850 if on a budget) - just as good as the latest Nvidia cards and about 20-30% cheaper!
