this isn't workin with the german version...i know in austria is the orange box uncut...but we got the cut version again...if u set sv_pure 2 then i will have a lot of graphic bugs &nd stuff =/

Post subject:  Re: sv_pure

we could set sv_pure 1 and whitelist all of the gibs. then the bloodpatch would still work, but all the other stuff has to be original.

I have thought about sv_pure before, but i was cba to come up with a whole list of allowed things... It looked like a heck of alot of work to do.

what is sv_pure 2 for? I know that sv_pure 1 forces clients to have same content but I've never heard of 2

I'm not quite sure myself either.

Here is what VALVe say's on it;

Post subject:  Re: sv_pure

sv_pure 0 - client can change all the content
sv_pure 1 - client can only change content specified by the server admin on a whitelist
sv_pure 2 - client can't change any content

imho, it would only be fair to use sv_pure 2, but we could set it to sv_pure 1 with the whitelist set to all items in the bloodpatch.

sv_pure 1 could be just as fair as sv_pure 2, if we announce the list of allowed content!

yes. without sv_pure, any player can change every art asset of the game to whatever he likes. so it would be possible to have huge shining player models, or even transparent walls.

since some of you don't seem to know how huge the advantages custom skins can give a player are, i've a screenshot here:

now tell me that isn't cheating...

SaintK, i've compiled a whitelist, that contains all the files from the bloodpatch.
i recommend that we set
sv_pure 1
sv_pure_kick_clients 0

and use this whitelist for about a week.
anybody that get warning messages about unpure content can report it to us. if it is a legit request, we will add it to the whitelist.
then, after the week is over we set
sv_pure_kick_clients 1

Post subject:  Re: sv_pure

This change will get implemented today.

If you use any custom content, you can post there and tell us which content you use. We'll check the content if its allowed or not. If its allowed we'll put it on the whitelist

sv_pure is now live.

Post subject:  Re: sv_pure

Ahm, will it kick players who have custom content with sv_pure_kick_clients 1?
Won't sv_pure 1 just force the whitelist, no matter if you have custom content or not?

Kinda bothersome to remove i.e weapon model skins if we play on SpA, then copy it back if we play elsewhere :p

Post subject:  Re: sv_pure

according to valve, players that have custom models should still be able to play, the source engine will simply use the models from the game cache file. so this means you won't have to do anything.

EDIT: oh I didn't read what this topic is about :p

Post subject:  Re: sv_pure

Isn't that a bit contrary to what sv_pure_kick_clients 1 is all about? :o
Quote:
By default, the server will kick clients that are using content that is different from the content the server wants to enforce. If a server only wants to give clients a warning or see which clients are using "impure" content, it can set sv_pure_kick_clients to 0.
What I understand by this is that if you have custom content that are not allowed in the whitelist, then you'll get kicked. Could be very troublesome for many if that's the case.

Edit: But they don't have sv_pure_kick_clients 1 yet, so you shouldn't notice anything.. yet.

Edit again!:

Maybe it just kicks if there's anything specified as allow_from_disk+check_crc ? If it differs from the server files, then they get the boot?

Post subject:  Re: sv_pure

tho I like my skins I'm fine with this. As long as the blood patch works everything is fine, I guess. :p and btw:
if I want to use a specific skin I simple have to tell you, right? If so, could u make an extra topic for that?
(to prevent the upcoming mess o.o)

We'll be providing a 'template' how to submit this stuff (you will have to make the correct config lines according to an example, and post the actual files themselfs for us to test)

Post subject:  Re: sv_pure

to clarify the whole thing:

sv_pure_kick_clients only means, that clients get kicked, if they have custom content that doesn't match the server's content and can, for whatever reason, not be loaded from the .gcf.

So if you have a custom model, the source engine will load the file from the .gcf and you can play on our server without doing anything, even if we have sv_pure_kick_clients 1. It would only kick you, if it can't extract the correct data from the .gcf.
