Today 20 pounds is 'only' 23 euro's. Mark my words, when the euro passes the pound, UK will start debating again on a coin switch!

UK will never switch to the Euro

It's the symbolic meaning of the pound that is more important for them imo. If they become republic, maybe, but as monarchy... no way. As for the driving - if the process is started, it will be a long and painful one, so I doubt that, too. It just doesn't make sense

In 1955, the Swedish government held a referendum on the introduction of right-hand driving. Although no less than 82.9% voted â€œnoâ€ to the plebiscite, the Swedish parliament passed a law on the conversion to right-hand driving in 1963. Finally, the change took place on Sunday, the 3rd of September 1967, at 5 oâ€™clock in the morning.

All traffic with private motor-driven vehicles was prohibited four hours before and one hour after the conversion, in order to be able to rearrange all traffic signs. Even the army was called in to help. Also a very low speed limit was applied, which was raised in a number of steps. The whole process took about a month. After Sweden's successful changeover, Iceland changed the following year, in 1968.

And Australia is going to be split off the UK in the next few years (this was raised again as seriouse thing last week), so the end of the UK is nearing anyway

well, you have more cars, sure, but that doesn't mean that the change has more impact then the change had in Sweden at that time. Fact is not only cars need to switch, but people on bicycles etc aswell. So millions of people had to switch. Same as the UK should. Only a bit more people are in cars, rather then on a bicycle

Just found out today quite interestingly, that the devaluing of the pound is actually being done on purpose by the bank of england. Apparently it will encourage trade etc in this year because itll be a hard year for the economy because of the US economy slow down; or some bollocks. Anyway yeh. So we meant for the pound to devalue this year.
