Hey folks,

I'm thinking about getting a nice, decent microphone to improve my TF2 gameplay. There are so often situations where voice owns typing. So do you have some recommendations? It hasn't to be the uber-r0xx0r-blingbling-stuff... some average mike/headset would be enough.

And is there anything else I have to take care off? What's about disturbing sounds? Does pressing the voice-chat mute my sound, would I need a headset or how is that working? :20

Cheers
Blackhawk

But I posted to see if anybody knows the command to mute ingame sounds when talking, I had it but forgot it >_<

just buy a random mic that costs you 2 euros from the local electronic store, they'll work just fine

personally i'd do a once in 10 year investment, put down 70 euro's, and get yourself a headset experiance you'll never forget.

I´m also pretty pleased with my Speedlink Medusa SL 8793 Pro Gamer Edition.
I´ve got it through ebay, normally 80€ I guess, but I got it for 45€. :D

Don't listen to anyone who's telling you to buy anything else then a sennheiser and just buy yourself a Sennheiser.

After googling around a bit I found the following code (source):
Code:
alias "+mute" "volume 0; +voicerecord"
alias "-mute" "-voicerecord; volume 1"
bind "MICROPHONE-BUTTON" +mute
So then I could use just a mike with my regular speakers? I don't want to cable a 5.1 headset each time I wanna play TF2 and after playing recable my speakers. And I don't want to miss the surround sound. The downside would be that talking too much would totally mute TF2. :/

In addition we just had the electricity billing ( ) so I think I'll start with just a mike instead of a full headset. I found a mike-only from Zalman for around 10 euros:

Normally you can clip it to your headset cable, but they say it also works if you clip it to your shirt. Has anyone tested such a thing? I don't want it to be cumbersomely. Didn't found much other mike-only-to-wear-at-your-head-thingies. :|

So... I'm right that most of you pals use a full headset? Hmm... I think I'll go to a local store first and take a closer look on the stuff.

I using Empire CD-840 MV Its some better than avarges.

It should have cost me about 330 DDK (41,25 Euro) . But i'm working in the shop and it came to cost me, about a hundred DKK (12,5 Euro)

I think, if you wan't something there sounds better, just buy the best. It not broken so easy, and the quallity of the mic or/and the headset itself. its many times better. Like on my headset is ten times more easy to control the mics position

I have a "Genius Black Edition" costed me 1 Euro.. it looks nice and the quality is very good so I dont see the reason to buy expensive mic's if you are using them on gaming.. it dosent make any diference..

I've got a crazy cheap one and it works like a charm. Had it for 5 years and the sound is clear. If you blow any amount of money on a mic and don't use it for regular sound recording you're a suckah!

I don't even know what my mic is. I mean, I honestly don't know.

I'll tell you one thing though... It sure does record voice.
