Some of you may recognize me as the guy who has animated boobie sprays, hell, I've written about them in my introductory thread.

I'm starting this thread because a funny (in my opinion) guy called me a pervert on the server today. He also said that he's offended by my sprays, that they are horrible and so on.

Now - even the most prudent country in the world, the US, don't rate naked female breasts above PG-13 (it's not full frontal nudity after all!). In Poland and Europe in general you can usually see them on daytime TV and even films featuring (softcore) sex scenes rarely get anything more than 16+ (boobs could get something around 12+).

I don't want to hear any crap that they are not suitable for children or that they might offend somebody because I find something that could offend another person like every other second when playing an online game (experience might change during online play? :-D). Also, boobies are bad but excessive blood and gore are OK? Half-Life 2 is rated 16+ by PEGI so if some minors are playing the game it's not MY problem but their parents' (although I'll never make my children have an unhealthy attitude towards sex and nudity, that's the way I was brought up). I guess David Cronenberg knew what he was doing when he made the infamous "A History of Violence"...

Anyways. The reason why I'm using these two sprays is NOT because I'm lacking alternatives - I have around 200 custom spray images in TF2 - it's just that I'm the one who made them. ^^

I recorded the source Flash movies frame-by-frame and encoded them as animated textures (of course lowering the framerate because HL2 has limits on the size) using VTFEdit.

Now, am I a pervert or the guy that makes such a fuss about female breasts? Yes, I love them, like any non-homosexual (nothing against homosexuals - I have some gay friends :-P) male because they are so wonderfully round, soft and have those hard nipples to suck on... Ehm... I digress... ;-)

So what's your opinion about it? Not that it'll change my behavior because I'm clearly not doing anything forbidden - I'm just curious. =)

P.S. For good measure; here are the "source files" for my sprays - I haven't converted them all because some animations were too complex or looked crappy when chopped into fewer frames. (It's Sydney Moon, by the way, and she hasn't ever done any hardcore stuff)

P.P.S. Yes, I DO know the touch of a woman (c'mon, it's not as if I'm 12), I guess better than the guy on the server. ;-)

I guess the vast majority of us doesn't have anything against bare female bodyparts. But of course there is still the question whether a TF2 server is the appropriate place for such images. Though your argument, that if you are old enough to play TF2, then you're old enough to see boobies, is correct, there still might be someone who doesn't want to see such stuff. This includes our female players, because we don't want to alienante those few (3 or 4) we have.


My opinion is, that people nowadays are too easily offended. This seems to be a trend that is imported through the mainstream media directly from america. Not just about nudity but also about stuff like 'political correctness' and 'religious freedom'.
I think there is not a single thing that can be offensive about a breast (I mean... who doesn't like them?). If anyone feels offended by them, or in particular by your spray, they are welcome to join this discussion and explain to us, what it is that they think is wrong.

I know that people can easily get offended nowadays but its just abit of good old-fashioned humour (imo) but I can see how the ladies of the server may be offended. They should just laugh at the stupidity of men tho, for example one of the first time I saw yours sprays was in the sewer of 2fort and while I stood their gazing at the rack before me I got snipered in the head from the other end of the tunnel....now thats funny

i second demms post 100% people are too easily offended (in many many ways) nowadays!

Our attacking team on gl didn't bother leaving spawn initially - certain death vs visual treat lol. Great distraction for a spy (or in nutty's case sniper) if placed elsewhere!

Currently we make no reference to sprays in the MOTD. Maybe worth adding something to it saying "No sprays of 18+ or illegal content" - that way you meet game requirements and can kick/ban anyone who starts posting well dodgy stuff.

Tits are fine imho and far less offensive than people's bodily bits being splattered all over the screen.

We really should add that to the server rules. That's actually a hole in the policy.

Then people would just start questioning what "18+" means, since this varies a lot from country to country. In The Netherlands and Denmark, for instance "18+" is basically illegal stuff and hardcore porn. Inthe US, "18+" means nudity!

Then it should be something in the effect of: "No sprays depicting extremely explicit content like full frontal nudity or hard pornographical material." You can add stuff to that to cover all bases, but I reckon this'll do the trick more or less

we are a mature community, everybody here is responsible. only regular players that activated their account and spent some points on the spraypaint permit can actually use it. so i guess there will be no single case where someone sprays something just to disturb others.

By the way - the guy complaining about the spray clearly wasn't a girl - otherwise she'd have to puke every time she saw herself in the mirror. ;-)

From my experience women aren't offended by female nudity - only e.g. feminists who fight the image of "oversexed women" in our society (hell, sometimes I watched porn with my girlfriend :-P). I guess it's the same with men, I mean, I'm not offended by TASTEFUL male nudity but I surely don't want to see goatse spraypaints. =)

As to the political correctness, yes, that's a horrible trend IMHO and it surely stems from the American concept of freedom: you're totally free to do anything as long as you don't even so much as *touch* another person's "freedom zone". In Europe most people would say what you said, that is, don't like it, look away - overseas people would insist that they have a right to not be forced to look away, however ridiculous that might sound. =)

Political correctness in language (my area of expertise =) has become especially absurd in some countries. In Germany you have to use strange double-gendered nouns when addressing a group of people e.g. "Dear female and male students" ("Liebe Studentinnen und Studenten") because some feminists said that the use of the generic masculine form is sexist although it isn't (if people think so than THEY are sexist and should be educated - language is neutral, the use and interpretation of language can be sexist, however). This goes all the rules of language evolution since its totally uneconomical. The funny thing is - according to many polls among e.g. female students the vast majority identified themselves as "Studenten" (the generic masculine form) - of course as a group, a single individual should still be addressed with his or her correct gender, obviously...
