Since i have a Intel 6320 1.86Ghz Duo 4MB on a motherboard that doesn't allow the processor to be overclocked, i really wanna get a new one. But i'm kinda short on money (i don't work at any jobs at all) so if i'll buy a new processor, i'm unable to buy a graphics card for a long time.. I'm actually still satisfied with my processors speed when it's just doing the windows vista, office, installing, etc. (Though i use TuneUp ALOT) In loading maps.... well, it's okay, but i'm usually one of the last people that joins in, in TF2. My graphics card - the ASUS 8600GTS - well, it gives TF2 a FPS on 35-50 which isn't that good. I don't overclock it at all, 'cause i don't have any knowledge in that. So, what should i upgrade first? ![]() |

What mobo u using ? If i were you, i'd upgrade your GFX card first with a shiney ATI 4870. Go's for around 200,- E atm for a highend card. |

I think the 4870 would be overkill for the processor. Just spare a bunch of bucks/euros/rubels and take the 4850.If i were you, i'd upgrade your GFX card first with a shiney ATI 4870. Go's for around 200,- E atm for a highend card. I just bought me a new shiny C2D E8400 @ 3.0GHz for 130 euros as a replacement for my E6300 (same GHz as yours). So instead of being one of the last joining, I'm now one of the first ![]() ![]() |

Hmmm - Blackhawk... Considering that your E6300 could pretty easily run @ 3.0 GHz (my E6600 is running @ 3.2 GHz with air cooling with ~50-55 degrees under full load and has been like that for over 1 1/2 years now...) I don't think you made that great an upgrade. ;-) |

The change to the 45nm architecture and general chip design improvements are things you shouldn't forget. Only looking a the pure power isn't always the best way. ![]() ![]() |
