Saint please do something , the heavy update is close and we don't want to see 16 / 16 heavies on the spa servers , can u make smth to block them to access the heavy class , like a limit , the enough heavies could be 2-3 .

Thx Mate !

I don't think I could stop laughing if it were 16/16 heavies...
At least not for the first five minutes.

we already have a class limiter on all servers!
when the heavy update hits us, we're gonna reduce the limit on heavies! (3-4 per team)

I agree.... it would be the slowest game ever, and everyone would be running out of ammo all the time... DO NOT set a limit please :D

It would be quite funny with a heavy only-server, perhaps as a weekend/custom thing in the future? Lord what a sight.

I will be even more lame because I'll most likely unlock the achievements with the Steam achievement unlocker unless all of them can be gotten in around 10 minutes with some pals on a server I set up at home (like with the Pyro update ^^).

I oppose Valve's idea of unlockable weapons in general and having to unlock them with achievements in particular, however fun it might sound in theory (and yes, they improved the concept A LOT with the Pyro update)... I do NOT want to be forced to play a single class for ANY amount of time just to get some stupid weapons - and everybody is curious how they work, it's obvious - no matter how easy they are to unlock... I want to play the Heavy (and any other class) only when I feel like it and when my team needs one.

I'm simply not the kind of guy stuff like achievements appeal to. They usually require no skill to get, just a specific set of circumstances to occur. In my eyes they are just artificial padding... In Guild Wars, which I've been playing for 2.5 years I didn't get a SINGLE title except for PvP titles that appeared automatically through gameplay because I didn't care for them. Just as much as I didn't care to get sets of Fissure (a.k.a Obsidian) Armor that didn't give me any advantage over the regular crafted one...

By the way, have you seen the second to last news update on TF.com?

http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=1711

A description of the Pyro before Meet the Pyro comes out - woohoo! It appears that Valve will not reveal any details about him/her/it whatsoever and I find that awesome because it makes people speculate in funny ways. ^^

quoted for canonical truth.

I'm all for achievments, but make them just be there for shits and giggles. Grinding and weapon shit just ruins everything. I'd rather just unlock everything real quick and then play as normal. Not matter what the servers will be filled with useless people (as in the pyro update) or possibly heavies refusing to change class.

Updates - hell yes
Unlocks - hell no unless it's purely aestethical unlocks, then I don't care

BF2 had that horrible grinding as well, man I hated it, but luckily it wasn't achievments but just points.

I totally agree... but some of them need abit of skills... like the medic one "heal 10K without dying", or like (WTF?) "uber a scout and kill 5 enemies" <.<

but i indeed will say that they are a EPIC FAILURE to mankind about unlockable Weapons >.< i mean, Kritskrieg? what's that all about? It is indeed uber if you have another medic with you and have a fun pyro suicide run (You might be coming with tips and tricks how to use uber correctly Limey ;P )

But back to the topic..

Positive part of the patch:
New patch, Heavy joins the medic and Pyro on the achievements
New patch means another class achievements later ^^
Sniping will might be easier since they move slowest 8)
A fun fact, make one dispenser, then move the heavies next to the dispenser and make a "Wheel" formation around the Dispenser, and FIRE AT WILL :D NO bloody spie can take you down :D

Negative part of the patch:
Bunch of stubborn players dont wanna change to something else than heavy for a couple of days/weeks
HEAVY loaded maps with HEAVIES! <.<
Might be confusing if 1-2 of the enemies are spies and run around and backstab you.
No medics or Teamwork i suppose <.<

and watch your team lose the game since you've got a wheel of heavies standing in one palce. safe from spies!

I think he's referring to the fact that you are immobile makes it pretty hard to defend specific areas apart from the one you're currently standing in. A few stickies or an ubered pyro will oblitherate the wheel of heavies pretty quickly :o
Hey, maybe if we sent in an übered heavy against the heavy-farm.... <plots>

they will fly by the power of... let's sseee.... 8 Miniguns firing on the poor Pyro/Demo/medic ubered :P
They fly by one lvl 3 sentry, i guess they will fly by 8 heavies :D

I do find the Kritskrieg extremely usefull in a combination of certain classes, like the soldier, also the heavy is a good one to use it on, the only problem though is that most of the people you try to über, even though you've typed and told them over voicechat several times that it IS the Kritskrieg you're NOT invurnable, they seem to think so and run out and dies in a suicide run instead of making good use of it, which leaves you without and team mate to über, and then people start complaining cause you're using the "wrong" medigun and... yeah...

a example of the use for it, was when I an Nutty82 played with each other, (me as a heavy) and managed an 35 killstreak, in important places.

so yes, it is very usefull, IF you manage to über someone who got more brains than "oh! me über! me run in front of sentry!!"

thats why the ubercharge is better, its just better at clearing out defended positions. Crit might be slightly better on the defense if the other team can't deploy an uber.

Yeah, me and Mint had a top game then

I use the kritskrieg because I am quite good with it and know when to use it to clear a large number of their team, or sentries from distance. I also use it because of the 10% faster charge rate so in the heat of battle you charge much faster. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I wish I had the Uber in certain positions but a balance of medics with both charges on the team is good for that. Tbh, its the same thing as an uber, if the medic is shit then it does not matter which charge you have, you need a good medic to use EITHER properly 8)

exactly...i also like the kritzkrieg in certain situations cuz if u charge it, the peeps don't run in a mass of enemies, kill sum of them &nd than u are sourrunded &nd die...the ppl u charge play a lot more cautious if u uber them with the kritzkrieg...at least in mah expierience ;D

Author:  Lim-Dul [ 06 Aug 2008, 16:19 ]
Post subject:  Re: Heavy Discussion ( Regarding Update )

Yeah, the Kritzkrieg, contrary to its name's source of inspiration, is really nice on the defense like you guys pointed out. Usually there aren't that many sentries to take care of and since buildings don't take more damage from critical hits the Kritzkrieg is basically useless on the offense unless you want to take out the engies tanking their sentries with a long-range crit rocket.
