As you might have noticed all our servers switched to birthday mode about 2 hours ago. In the beginning we were all very confused... Nobody changed any server settings, there weren't any updates and ALL the servers are affected even though they are spread across several machines and even countries.

After doing some research the reason for this change became apparent:

The first version of Team Fortress was released for the Quake engine on August 24, 1996! Exactly 12 years ago!
