| Post subject: | Steam News - Mod Support Coming to Steam |
Quote: Five mods will soon be added to Steam starting next week! We originally saw some signs that Source mod support would be coming to Steam, but nothing was concrete. Nothing, that is, until this week's Steam news update.
Source: www.csnation.net
As a part of our continuing efforts to support the MOD community, we will begin hosting selected MODs directly on Steam starting next week. The first five MODs to ship on steam will be Age of Chivalry, D.I.P.R.I.P., Insurgency, Synergy, and Zombie Panic. As always, owners of any Source game will be able to download and play all of these MODs for free. Once installed, these MODs will appear in your "My Games" list and will receive automatic updates just like other games on Steam. Also, these MODs now take advantage of Steamworks, which provides stat tracking and tighter integration with the Steam community. We're excited to see MOD developers get wider recognition for the hard work they have done, and we hope to support more MOD teams in the future. Watch for the official release next week! With the release of mods on the Steam client, the upcoming release of Steam Cloud, and the previous integration of Steamworks it looks as though Valve is set to fully deliver on all of their initial promises for Steam. |

Yo! I played them all - still not considering servers for FREE mods? :-D D.I.P.R.I.P. is pretty good although the controls require getting used to (as Mint can confirm - he listened to me bitch about them ^^). |

I have never stated such thing. And as you might, or might not know, we started with cs 1.6 (free mod), hosted Insurgency (free mod), hosted teamfortress forever (freemod) and are supporting and going to host Mario kart source (free mod).... Besides BF2, TF2 is the only payed game we have hosted so far. |

No, not you - Bucky said that and since he is the co-leader I thought he was speaking for the management in general. :-D The mods might get some really good exposure after they become public (that is, supported). |

I was saying that in the what should we host thread. As in we're looking for a new game, not a mod. I believe the mods, I'm not gonna take a look at them when we're trying to find a new game. CS ruled. But I doubt they will bring out a succesful mod like cs that will reach same popularity. |
