Post subject:  Sound problems.. again. Need help!

When I start my PC, there is a big high tone coming out of my speakers. When I try to play music, it sounds like crap and is very "Scratching". Especially the bass. After 5-10 minutes it fades out and is gone.

I have tried different speakers/headphones. Updating IDT sound-codec. Different plugs, etc. nothing works.. Must be something with the inner PC.

This is the driver I use now

What to do??

I would take out the soundcard (if you are not using an internal one), clean the slot and put it right back in - or even change the slot in which it is residing. If you have an internal soundcard you could check if your motherboard isn't shorted somewhere - usually there's a warning when that happens but it could very well be that a circuit that is NOT monitored touches e.g. the case somewhere.

Does reboot help on the issue? My integrated Sb Live! has same kind of problems when I fire up the machine. I need to reboot after starting it to make the "extra" noise to disappear. I recon it has a cold soldering somewhere but I'm too lazy to have a look. That's why my PC is on 24/7..
