Ok, I need to ask a important question. Since there are so many Europeans here I was wondering if there is anyone who lives or have been to Aachen for a longer period. The reason I ask is that I'm planning to take 1 year of my studies there, at RTWH Aachen, but I really don't know anything about the university nor the city. I know it might be a bit far stretched to try to get hold of someone here who actually studies at RTWH, so someone who have been there / lived there for a longer period would be enough. So, anyone who are able (and wants) to tell me a bit about the city and answer a couple of questions? You can PM me or reply here ![]() ![]() |

It's called RWTH btw. ![]() Never been to Aachen, but I know some guys from Luxemburg that study there. For us it's cool, because in many big universities in central europe, the Luxemburgers have student organizations. So it's easy to get information. Perphaps there might be one from Norway too? But I think if that would be the case, you already would know. ![]() Anyway, don't fear ze germans, they are really friendly people! ![]() |

Well - the Döner Kebab has become by far the most popular form of fast-food in Germany. Like Blackhawk pointed out Aachen is no different to any German city. I've been living in Hamburg for quite a while and spent several months over there 1.5 years ago and indeed the number of kebab shops is staggering - but I'm not complaining. Truth be told there are more and more such shops in Poland as well and judging by my friends (I avoid eating too much fast-food nowadays) it is the main form of fast-food for them as well. |

Döner Kebab..mmmm..so goood! The best I've eaten so far was in Budapest. Given, I've not been to Turkey yet and when visiting Germany I was only interested in the beer! (Oktoberfest ftw!) |

All i know is that there is around 10 Norwegians from my University that exchanges to RWTH every year, and we get 25 Germans back ![]() Do you know if they like studying in Aachen? I had german as my third language at school for a couple of years so I don't think I would meet any language barrier. Anyways, I need to decide if I want to go to München or Aachen within a couple of days :/ Oh well, back to my poker game... |

I went to aachen to the christmas market, was nice. Otherwise i wouldnt know ![]() And ofc there are alot of kebab shops in Germany... they imported all the Turks to rebuild Germany after WW2 and they rebuilt it.... but they included a kebab shop on every corner! Genius design I must say! |

The best donor kebab I've had is from a place in Springburn, Glasgow called Gill's. If you're ever in Springburn be sure and check it out. And once you've done that you'd best get the fuck out of Springburn. And I'm being serious. |

Well I have not talked with those guys for ages, but I'm shure it's a pretty decent university! ![]() But as you seem to have the choice, I would definitely go for München! ![]() There is absolutely no doubt that it's a very good university, and the city is great! |

München is great, but it doesn't have many Döner shops. They're really very rare here. And it is really expensive to live here. But well worth it. The uni is great as well. [SpA]Blackhawk wrote: and there are Bavarians! That's really hard...
lies! When I'm at uni, about every 10th person I meet is a bavarian. ![]() ![]() (and only every 8th person is a girl... ![]() |
