Depends on what you need it for.
Pretty much anything you'd need for it is however centralised in the package manager.

We know what Compiz Fusion is capable of - at least the people that have any kind of Linux experience. ^^ I'm dual-booting with Linux Mint - it's basically Ubuntu but with some additional stuff and preinstalled programs and proprietary codecs/drivers so it is fully featured right off the bat. |

The "yes" part is a bit overstated. =) You'll have to use Wine and that means that sometimes things will work just fine and sometimes they won't - not even Steam itself is fully functional under Wine. |
