So I have a new bluetooth headset now.
What I want to do is that the ingame voice chat in tf2 comes trough the speaker of the headset, not through those on the laptop.
In fact, I configured it to do so.
Which means, it perfectly works like that in mumble for example.
I only hear the conversations thourgh my headset.
It worked fine as well in the windows speech setup panel which I accessed in the steam options.
But when I'm ingame, the voices still come through the speakers and not from the headset....
Anything I'm doing wrong? :|

Another question (concerning mumble):
When I'm playing tf2 and I'm connected to the server in mumble, will everyone who is connected to mumble also hear what I'm talking with my team? (if I use ingame voice chat)
Or is there a method to avoid that?
Or how do you use mumble in this case?

You simply join different channels. Or you mute yourself if you want to use the in-game chat to communicate something to your team. You can setup keyboard shortcuts for all of this.

Well, if you use push-to-talk (and I strongly recommend it) you will need to bind two different buttons for it, one in-game and one for mumble, otherwise you'll be heard in both programs.
If you don't use push-to-talk then you'll always be heard in mumble, but if you press your in-game talk button you'll be heard there too.

Regarding the audio output of TF2: afaik you can only set one audio device in the source engine, and this device will always be used for game sounds and voice communication. It is not possible to set normal audio to one and voice to another device. Tbh this would be pretty annoying for everyone else except you, because every time you talk, the others will hear the in-game sounds too.

Alright, I'll use push-to-talk then. Just need to find a decent key to bind it to.
In tf2 only push-to-talk is available anyways, isn't it?

With the audio output: Hm, sry to hear it will not work like that. Yesterday I've played with that mic, and the sounds came through my laptop speakers, so I hope that didn't annoy anyone (if it picked up the in-game sounds). Well, I think I might switch back to my old method then and leave my new headset for the ps3 (cause it is the ps3 headset).

There should be an option somewhere in Windows to mute the regular speakers if a headset is plugged in.

No but I want the sounds to come out of the normal speakers, just want the voice chat to come out of the headset.
It's the sort of headset you just have in one ear. ;)
But I guess it won't work, but that's no problem.

As for the mouse, I'm using a standard 3 button mouse and I am not willing to spend money for a gaming mouse, as I get allong well with my actual one. :18 But I might consider using mouse button 3, as it's unused in tf2.

What? You have free buttons on your mouse? :-P

Mouse 1: +attack
Mouse 2: +jump
Mouse 3: +attack2
Mouse 4: +reload
Mouse 5: uuuuhm - in TF2 only a stupid script but in L4D shove
mwheelup: invnext
mwheeldown: invprev

P.S. Not only gaming mice have more buttons. Mouse 4 and Mouse 5 is used on many mice as the back and forward buttons for your browser - VERY practical by the way. I'm using an Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 v2 (the re-issue).

The Necromancer (4970)
Old Quake 2 habit, used to play it on (small) tournament level when I was young.
Plus, it's logical. Jumping is an action, not a direction (you press it once, not keep the button depressed), although it's movement related - I try to have all action buttons bound to the mouse and toggle controls (movement, crouch, walk, sprint and whatnot) to the keyboard. Personally I don't see how you can perform advanced jump maneuvers like circle or strafe jumping (not relevant for Valve games) with the space bar but apparently others have no problems with that. :-P

By the way - mouse2 to jump is still quite popular in the Quake and especially War§ow communities where precisely timed jumps are absolutely essential.

Whoa - this is even crazier than my setup. Are you left-handed by any chance?

No :P I just used it when I played games like cod where proning and crouching were important for aim etc... Just quicker on a mouse than a keyboard (also its harder to hold down a key on a keyboard). I'm just used to it now.
