I recorded another video, actually a whole video series that will be continued in the future - it's quite boring but that won't stop me from posting it here. ^^ Unlike my previous gameplay videos this one has been recorded live, that is, I commented on my actions directly during gameplay - that's why the commentary isn't funny and as coherent as before. =) Link for those who can't get the embedded videos to work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSnL1uaRc4M&fmt=18 A bit about the game itself - I've been playing it on and off for quite some time (2 years? I don't know.) and from a certain point on decided to post some bugs on Usenet, contact the author (he's a funny guy - you should read the comments in the source code or the in-game descriptions of certain things - almost Pratchett-esque), donate some money and stuff. I explain what the game is in the video but for the deaf and mute among you (SonnY Black? :-D) it's a roguelike (turn-based dungeon crawling game) designed specifically for portable consoles - it started out as a GBA game, now it has spread onto the PSP, NDS and various other systems. The nice thing about it that it's intuitive, fast-paced (a run-through, if you manage to pull it off, is several hours long) and that it has some impressive surprises - things you wouldn't have expected to work so logically and realistically in a game seemingly so simple. Keep in mind that roguelikes are a very old genre of games without which we wouldn't have modern hack&slashers or cRPGs (Diablo, Dungeon Siege et al) - in their complexity they still surpass games that put a greater stress on graphics. How does e.g. ADOM, my favorite RL compare to this one? Well, it has a far more advanced core system but when it comes to all these "hidden surprises" and the gameplay dynamics POWDER is miles ahead of it - the source code has meanwhile surpassed the length of e.g. ADOM. 0_o So, by all means check out the game, it's freeware and can be played on Windows (Mac OS X, Linux) as well - or play it on something portable, provided you have a flash memory adapter. http://www.zincland.com/powder/ Ah - feel free to check out my new and improved channel page - now with more dinosaurs sporting rocket launchers (concept art for another cool game - Dinowaurs): http://www.youtube.com/user/limdul Subscribe to lengthen my e-peen and get updates on this epic (fail) video series. Some exclusive SpA-only info - I already recorded several follow-up videos and they contain a lot of dying and failing, so there's much fun to be had - who doesn't enjoy watching ME fail? :-P P.S. I'll post this in blog form as well, so we have some new content on the front page. ^^ |

Don't be stupid. You took time and effort to make that video whereas I just found a video of a bunch of puppies chasing a cat around. I just think after watching yours, people might be looking for a change of pace and I feel the vid I posted serves that purpose. |

"don't eat demon corpses, it'll make you vurnable to fire... wait what am I saying? to silver OF COURSE" OF COURSE? yeah cause that was the most logical thing in the world, next time I'm about to munch on a demon corpse I remember not to use my silverware... it might just kill me... ![]() |

I am not deaf. And even, if I'm muted, I can still read. ![]() |

Yeah - this game simply isn't funny if you don't take the time to read all the absurd descriptions of monsters and items. ^^However, after I finish this series I have an epic idea coming - I'll do a blind run-through in one of the worst games I saw - and it's a new game as well (though you couldn't tell by the graphics). :-D Update: My second video is up. Some very strange things happen in it (especially the phone call I'm receiving :-P) and I fail on multiple fronts (falling into my own traps, trying to kill an acid resistant creature with acid etc.). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQ0eDYyTECc&fmt=18 P.S. Isn't the music a bit too quiet? I might change it some way down in the series. Subscribe for more epic(ally boring non-)action and future projects! |

Aaaand another video is up, this time I'll only link to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5ZTy-aX72o&fmt=18 The adventures of the first gray dude (copyright SonnY Black) come to an end as he is killed by scorpion poison while having dozens of items and options that might have saved him. ^^ At what point will his next incarnation die? Stay tuned to find out! |

It wasn't a brown slug, it was a *drumroll* BROWN SLUG LICH. ;-) And a boss monster at that. I had no good spells that would work on it and no weapon skills so I'd have been dead in a matter of seconds. :-P No worries - you'll see me run a lot more - e.g. from ghosts and cockatrices - but that's a couple of videos ahead. ^^ |
