When I try to convert the demo itself, the window for chosing how to compress it always shows up behind the main window in TF2, so I have to exit the game to find it at the desktop. Problem is that when I press it, TF2 locks up. Tried restarting several times, but no luck.

you should record at 1280x720 anyway, so do it in a window :)

Alright, gonna try it out. I'm recording at the lowest resolution, uploading 8 million gb to youtube is going to take forever.

To switch out of TF2 u can better use 'alt+esc' then 'alt+tab', it often causes less problems and seems to switch alot faster.

Use H.264 encoding, produces nice results at 1280x720, although you have to make sure you start playing the video before you close console or you get the damn shift+F2 thing in the video, and you don't get many keyframes to cut the video it seems :/ I had the problem this morning but now I have a minute of video, wonderful ^^

Looks like you're off the hook, it worked. Thanks.
Hopefully those highlights will be up tonight.
