Here's a little sample of the kind of things you might get up to, if you visit Scotland. Enjoy.

Scottish should be a stand-alone language.

Oh, but I did mate. Which is quite surprising. I mean, I thought irish people were the unintelligible ones yet I understand Dylan Moran's(<3) jokes prefectly.
Lemme think...scotland..scotland...nessie doesn't speak, dire straits sing and mel gibson's William Wallace was in understandable english so it might just be that I'm missing exercise. You should get a friend on mumble, drink a few pints of beer and tell us jokes for the whole night. That ought to help me improve. xD

This is pretty much all I do when I'm on Mumble.

I know you're cracking jokes all the time mate(<3), I'm talking about the accent. You sound nowhere near as hardcore scottish as the dude in the movie. :P

Oh right. Yeah, well if I spoke like that nobody would ever know what the fuck I'm talking about. I have a hard enough time as it is really.

The problem is the more drunk I get, the more I start to talk like I normally do.

Dire Straits are English? They did the theme tune to Local Hero, but I think that's as far as their Scottish links go...

Come to Scotland and enjoy the country with the highest rising rate of Obesity, Knife Attacks, Drug Use, Illiteracy and (unofficially) the dullest weather anywhere in the world.

Be patriotic, be proud of being a fat, illiterate, stabbed junky! (i'm joking, mostly).

We have a whole street full of Scots like those I described... :(

Then again, we have REALLY fucking beautiful scenery.

But we have Bagpipes.

We have Rabbie Burns though!

Then again, we have Deep fried Mars Bars in batter.

Oh the contradictions to our culture...

well said, my friend. well said.

it's the whole eating-a-steak-bake-on-the-streets contradiction - Gregg's pies are the best in the whole world, and to live in a society that doesn't give a crap about the fact that you're eating it like a pig in public is something special.
then you realise it's going straight to your arteries.

Mark Knopfler is born in Glasgow. He IS Dire Straits (the founder, songwriter, singer and lead guitarist). That makes the band scottish imo, even if the rest of the members are from England, US or Wales. :)

I understood what he was saying.

However the wink he gave the camera at the end has scared me from ever setting foot in Scotland ever again. That and the fact that the Scots caused the banking crash and ultimately the meltdown of the UK (true).

Hi mum is English though (Mark Knopfler) and his dad is, ehm, Hungarian?

Being born in Scotland doesn't cut it imo - He doesn't even have the slightest vaguest moderate hint of Scots in his accent.

Also, he's the rock idol (lmfao) of Prince Charles and looks a little like him... He's on minus points for me :P

Dude you forgot the pie in a roll. Where else in the world could you possibly get a scotch pie in a buttered roll.

And we wonder why we're all obese...

The temperature varies on wether the gods are pleased with their daily sacrifices or not

Sweden probably is colder, but I can still say Scotland is just because
Nessie wins against any polar bear :4

Thank you to the minty fresh one :D

True Scottish life is nothing like I say it is

Just because I support Aberdeen dosent mean I love bestiality unlike ETMI who is just weird and really has no true life :|

So yeah I apologise for misleading you people out there to believe that Scotland is some freezing backward place where people speak in foreign tongues and worship some strange cult of gods but most of all for making McMoist die inside
