Hi mum is English though (Mark Knopfler) and his dad is, ehm, Hungarian? Being born in Scotland doesn't cut it imo - He doesn't even have the slightest vaguest moderate hint of Scots in his accent. He IS Dire Straits (the founder, songwriter, singer and lead guitarist). That makes the band scottish imo, even if the rest of the members are from England, US or Wales.
