Post subject:  Ultimate broadband throttle
Anyone know how I can sort out a recurring throttling on my net...

e.g. I can load google extremely slowly, and i can log onto a game and come up with max ping... so theres internet there.. and its connected... its just not liking to be used.

Dunno if its my ISP throttlin it, about to ring them up to find out... although I would assume I would get an email or call if it was... good old "overusage of unlimited bandwidth"

If not then i think it may be something to do with the DNS settings on my wireless connection.. atm its set to auto... although i remember last time I had this problem i changed it to some numbers i didnt write down cos im cool and voila it worked for the next 3 months... now its back... Any ideas?

Your download speed seems fine but you have very high latency. Your best off contacting your ISP i guess. (Assuming your pc's AV and AS and windows are up to date)

Tried restarting your router? That usually solves it for me.
Because my router is a little box of crap that wants to get some attention now and then.

I get the feeling my isp (though different from yours) is pulling the same stuff on me, so if you find out anything useful it would be good to hear

Sadly, your provider won't usually inform you unless it's direct to your BB (provided) e-mail, and even then it's erratic...

We had our evening usage cut back to about 80kilobytes/s downloading speed between 6pm and 12am for ages because of some damn heavy torrent and streaming action (insanely heavy tbh). They've loosened it up now though it seems...
