Bleugh, WoW, I played it for a (well 4 days) free trial. Didn't like it at all, people say that it gets way better at max levels, but then it will take me a year to get to that level anyway. I'm hoping AoC is less of a grind, and also this friends are on the free trial as well so it's just for a bit of fun, not hardcore mmorpg players :3

It's not that fun to play but it's ok. But when you are lvl 60 to 66 you need to do only mobb kiling because you have rand of quests. Still it's a great figthing system that's for sure

Post subject:  Re: A new record!

Huh? There are enough quests in the game to level two characters to max lvl withour repeating them. 60-66 you do in Hellfire Peninsula and Zaga, without even crossing Nagrand, TF or BEM.

But let's not make this about wow. :P

Replace "better" with "repetitive and boring" and the sentence is correct.

Im finding it quite fun at the moment, although I don't think there is enough variation in skills, it's a lot more fun if you play through it with a party of friends you actually know as well. Don't think it will be a game like TF2 for me though :3

Heresy

WoW is an awesome game. People just love to hate it because its the biggest!

For me the first levels aren't that bad, its around level 30-40 that I usually get my /yawn dip with a class. Simply because you don't get many new abilities anymore. Still I play it sometimes just to do quests, which there are quite a few interesting and entertaining ones.

The first time I played WoW (I do have to say it has been quite a bit dumbed down), I had an awesome time with it all the way up to level 60. But when you got to level 60 and realized you had to run the same few dungeons over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, it got old pretty fucking fast.

I started playing it again recently together with Rei and Gariko, but since Rei is broke and can't pay for his account I pretty much stopped. Its just much more fun to play with a couple of others than all by yourself. So I have just started playing some other MMO again which has very nicely written quests and a good storyline in it.

Some of the storylines are indeed just epic. And I mean EPIC. I gave WotlK a shot for two months but man, have they dumbed it down. Not that it was that much challenging before but still, the raiding part had some hard parts in it that made it fun.

Its nice if you find some people that level with you. Or generally if you know some people because that can make and brake your experience.
I have a paladin that leveled a large way to 60 ( BC time ) as tank together with a warlock, priest and a rogue. We cleared most instances between 30-50.

Its also nice if you dont have to pay because your sister plays with your old account and has far longer working times. :ugly:

I gave up paying for WoW several months after the release btw.

warcraft alone = horrible
warcraft with people you know/good guildies = awesomesauce sometimes, an overly expensive instant messanger the rest of the time

Post subject:  Re: A new record!

Yeah, well I still have about 30 days free of AoC, I might as well use it and it is fun with friends. I just don't really understand why there are hardly any skills, since I always like a bit of customisation in building up my character (having skills that upgrade is very cool, but I prefer the skill system in WoW). I think I just get too bored of MMORPG's too quickly to get to high levels, also I never liked the idea of paying monthly (Thats why I played Guild Wars for so long, single payment and a lot of my friends played it).

Overall I think that I just find WoW and AoC too much of a grind for very little reward.

Some people like that particular grind though. :)

Post subject:  Re: A new record!

Well, I would prefer some middle ground;

- Guild Wars was too easy to level up on and too easy to get max armour at level 3 (out of 20), one of my favourite skill systems ever, good customisability on characters (everything could be reverted, all skills could be got for that character). Secondary classes provided you with very interesting builds and meant you didn't have to create loads of the same primary class characters. (So you could easily have every combination of character without training about 60 different people to level 20). Story line was epic and the main missions were awesome, easy to get parties and meat new people.

- I found WoW an absolute pain in the arse even at level 20 (quests got a bit repetitive and grinding on enemies was too slow), so I couldn't have coped with getting to 80 :x Skill system was good, massive game, if you don't start playing it with friends it's not that easy to find parties to play through it with.

- Some definitely not like Archlord, where it had been out for a year and a half and not one player had reached the max level (someone had got to like 96/100). To level up at any reasonable rate you had to buy in game potions (for real money) which boosted your health, mana and exp gain, so you could farm about 12 enemies at once and just keep doing it (since the quests gave no experience). Very cool weapon/armour upgrade system but was too random and could be very frustrating.

So I want a game where the armour isn't all the same (Like it pretty much was in Guild Wars, once you got rich you could buy all the best stuff easily for all your characters, and the 'better' more expensive weapons were only better due to aesthetic reasons), but also one where it doesn't take your whole life to get to max levels and get into some awesome PvP battles etc...

Post subject:  Re: A new record!

WoW is a pain at low levels because there is little variety in skills. It's about level 40 when it kicks off. By then you have a specialized character with awesome skills and talents. :)
If you're not an RP guy like me and you just want the gameplay then yeah it's stupid how you have to spend so much time to level just to START actually playing the game.

btw, how are the bugs in AoC? Fixed yet? :ugly:

Post subject:  Re: A new record!

Yeah, I haven't noticed any bugs, but I just find it annoying how there aren't many skills :( Also you don't get many equipment drops, you mainly just get things to sell to the merchants, and pretty much you will have the same weapons as everyone else throughout the game, unless this improves when you get off the tutorial island, which I doubt it will. Also the bonus's on weapons and armor sucks, it adds the tiniest amount to your health/whatever, I could be using the shit stuff from merchants and notice no difference. 8)

Played WoW in the beta and from the start to level 60 with my friends from the university. It was really, really fun. Stopped playing because hadn't enough time and motiviation to do 8 hour raids.

Then I played Warhammer Online for a month some months ago. Was quite nice (especially if you know the Warhammer universe), but dropped it, too, because MMORPGs just need too much time for my taste.

I think you can be a topless chick without a thong... I just haven't tried it yet, my character is female anyway.
