specifically, one that converts from M4A to MP3. the first result google gives is a nasty free trial that doesn't even convert everything in the end, so if someone can link me something that'll do the job properly (and is free) that would be shizzletastic. |

try www.google.com ![]() There are tons of good ones out there, just try some. I always tend to like the stuff from sourceforge. |

First download ![]() Then follow this instructions; they allow exporting files as MP3s. Follow this instructions next. Finally go to Edit > Preferences: Import / Export and click the Find Library button in the FFmpeg section. Now you can drag&drop the m4a in the program and File>Export it as MP3 (click options for setting the bitrate and whatnot). |

alright, I'm pretty sure I did this to the letter, but when dragging and dropping I get the error message "Audacity recognised the type of the file <file name> but was unable to import it". any ideas?Image Then follow this instructions; they allow exporting files as MP3s. Follow this instructions next. Finally go to Edit > Preferences: Import / Export and click the Find Library button in the FFmpeg section. Now you can drag&drop the m4a in the program and File>Export it as MP3 (click options for setting the bitrate and whatnot). edit: ah, noticed it's not picking up the .dll even though I've specified the very thing it wants. now that's annoying... |

Strange, for me it worked. After extracting tha archive when i pressed Find Library it said it already found it and if I still want to browse manually. I said no and it worked fine. Maybe you didn't restart Audacity after extracting? My only idea... If you want you can upload your files somewhere and PM me the location, I can convert and resend them to you. |

I'll give everything a reboot and see if that helps out.Maybe you didn't restart Audacity after extracting? My only idea... If you want you can upload your files somewhere and PM me the location, I can convert and resend them to you. as for the conversion, the aforementioned trial version seems to be doing the job (sort of, although it only converts half of the files you want to convert at a time >_>) so it's a quick temporary fix. |
