Post subject:  Playstation 2 dosen't read discs :(
After I bought the PS3 back in July 2007, I took the PS2 away. For some reason, I dusted it off today and was trying to play some good old PS2. The thing is, that long before I got the PS3, it became reading discs pretty baddly, but it worked. So, I oppened the console to clean the lens. I started the console and I found the problem.

Does anyone know how to fix the problem? (sadface)

1 thing i learned is never touch the lens!!! Anyway, I geuss if its your lens which is broken.. you hot yourself a problem, expensive to repair

when our ps2 , my brother discovered i think , that one of the cogs has become unaligned and had broken the rhythm of the laser or summin , ill get onto him asap tomorow and let u know

I beleive he had to take it apart and twist the cog to every bit , very tiresome and a pain

It dosen't seem to be the lens, this happens since 1900 and I never toutched the lens untill today. It is the motor, me thinks.

If this is complicated to fix, then bah. I have a PS3, I just wanted to play some of my old backups (hurrrhurrr)

It does indeed sound like the motor.

Throw our (old) member [SpA]Antz a PM, if i'm not mistaken he recently replaced a moter on his own for an issue similair like this.

whack the discs into your PC, .iso thier ass and run them through a PS2 emulator :mrgreen:

Throw your PS2 out, buy a PS3 and go down to gamestop and trade all your PS2 games for used PS3 games.
