Hi, great guide, I really want to spice up the motd's on our communities servers, but have run into a problem... I saw that your guide used psychostats, do our servers need to run psychostats in order to get the servers to show up on the motd? I ask because we don't run psychostats (instead hlstats) (and sourcemod), and I've tried to get it to work, but we keep running into problems, and our webserver admin is convinced its because we aren't running psychostats. Thankyou. cheers. ![]() |

Due to the high likelihood of being wrong I shouldn't reply to posts like this, thus I've wrapped it all up in hidden tags. |

Uhm, I don't know anything about psychostats mentioned anywhere. If you mean this article: http://www.specialattack.net/content/ho ... board-motd It uses only rcon (the rcon library is, if I remember corretly, copied from psychostats but you do not need it installed) to query the server. |

very very good, yeah I didn't see anything about psycho stats either. Thanks guys, now we can get down to debugging the problem further, most likely we didn't have GD2 installed, but the webserver administrator was caught up in the psychostats difference, now I can confirm that the psychostats isn't the problem. One further thing, the motd is accessable right? I mean it isn't hidden and private, wouldn't it be a security risk to put the rcon password in there? |

The password lies in the PHP file which normally shouldn't not be public readable as it's parsed on execution. To prevent a possible risk if the PHP parser is down (misconfiguring etc) you should move the file with the password out of the web root.
