Omg, it works!

I've already sent out some invites. It might take some time till you get them though, since they have a lot of request.
PM me you email address you want to use for wave if you want an invite. I got 11 left.

I got mine 2 days after some guy sent it to me so be patient. I thought that he didn't actually send it after first day so I managed to get someone else to send me another invite :) Maybe I'll get it tomorrow, in that case I'll PM the link to first person that replies to this post.

It's not slow, just delayed. They can't allow a lot of people to join at once, every time they increase the capacity few people will get invites.

It is still in early test phase and this is the first real public test period. Of course you can expect problems then.

So guys, how does it work the wave system? Any thoughts about your experiences?

i was talking about their overall infrastructure. there had been quite a lot outages recently, last one was gmail.
everyone has outages now and then, but one of googles unique features was its infrastructure reliability, which seems to begin to crumble.

I have only experienced one outage in gmail over the past year.... I have no problems with Google and it's services.... If you REALLY want to whine about poor services and lots of outages, then take a glance at Facebook ;)

He did. He added me to that wave so I can see the invites he sent and even send them myself but I'm not going to mess with his invites :) Just be patient, they are letting people sing up in waves (haha!) as they increase the capacity.

So I was just sitting in kitchen bombarded by sound WAVEs which were being made by the radio WAVE reciever. On the radio they were talking about sea WAVEs. Slightly annoyed by all the WAVEs and the fact that I don't have Google WAVE, I looked out of the window, just to see someone WAVE-ing. Can't break the joke there. Sorry grammar. This infuriated me, sending WAVEs of blood through my WAVEy veins, making WAVEs on my skin. I VOWEd that I would get that WAVE at some point.

If anybody has a spare invite I would really a prick i ate it.

I got Google Wave today, and I have been messing around on it with demm and lacop. Here are my impressions:

First off, the user interface isn't THAT impressing. I like designs to be stilistic, with the colours being either VERY simplistic OR vibrant. The colour scheme in Google Wave is just inbetween, with most of the UI being white, but all headers having the boring blue colour you get from running Chrome on windows XP.
The one thing that I was most worried about with Wave, was the live typing. I make alot of spelling mistakes when I type fast, which I don't correct, until I read the message through, it was, however, a very pleasent feature. It turned out that demm and lacop made at least as many spelling mistakes as I did. The live thing meat that we could start replying to eachtoher, without the first one being done even writing his question. If we hadn't just fooled around, I am confident that chatting over wave might be twice as fast as chatting over MSN/Steam, simply because it's easier for all participants to type at the same time, without losing thread.
Another impressive thing was how well the different applications connected with Wave. It was very easy to put in polls, image slideshows, maps and the alike.

There was, however, a few bugs.
First off, Wave doesn't update the status of your contact list. It only updates when you refresh the browser.
Another thing was that if someone deleted a post, while you were typing, it would post your reply, even if you weren't done typing. This meant that you would have to click in the post options and choose "edit" to continue typing.
Finally, the whole wave slowed down ALOT after *just* 300 replies. Adding interactivity to your posts, just slowed it significantly more.

As a last note, we all agreed that we would have preferred Google Wave to be a desktop application. Not only would this reduce - maybe even remove - the lag from the waves, but it would also make Google Wave easier to access, and you would have easier to see when you have recieved a new Wave.
