indeed, but where tabula rasa ended up with just the same as every other MMO and not a FPS MMO I hope this actually takes that FPS into the game, so it's about aim too. not just about stats
I don't think this is why Tabula Rasa failed. It failed, ironically, for the very same reason I'm not so hot about this particular game - it was marketed as a MMO/FPS hybrid to supposedly please both MMORPGers and FPS players but in the end it turned out that the niche for that is very small (watch Zero Punctuation for a graphical representation of that ^^). You can sprinkle some Shadowrun and Hellgate: London on top of that - both were far more conservative in their approach and yet failed miserably on the financial side - not to mention the fact that Shadowrun required paid subscription for cross-platform gameplay and Hellgate: London required payment for additional features. See any similarities?
So, in my eyes any attempt at a MMO shooter will result in something like TF2 Achievement Whore: The Game and we all know how I ADORE unlocking stuff in FPSes by arbitrary means. History so far showed that most people such games are targeted at share my point of view.
I can imagine very practical reasons for a product like this failing - it's not that FPSes and MMORPGs don't mix by default but it would take some quite inventive approach to overcome the gameplay differences. What I mean is that MMORPGs are mostly time-based games while FPSes are mostly skill-based. Now imagine a MMORPG player on one hand, who will get pissed off by the fact that some n00b took him out with a headshot although he was grinding two months with his character OR an FPS player who will be pissed off that he has a K:D ratio of like 1:10 because he's surrounded by players with several months worth of gear and skills that provide them with a major advantage.
BTW - if anyone wants to sign up for the beta, then he can use my referral code - applications using referral codes are apparently prioritized so you're actually doing YOURSELF a favor.

It's not as if I'm not curious. If anybody already signed up, then feel free to provide the referral code too. The more, the merrier.
P.S. Ah yes, good that Vögelchen mentioned Tribes - this game series immediately sprang to my mind as well. But no, I don't think Global Agenda looks as if it was stealing too heavily left and right, especially not from TF2.
Vögelchen is also right on the account that games like Tribes, Shadowrun, Hellgate: London and yes, even Tabula Rasa had some powerful companies or big names behind them, so even had a head-start in comparison to Global Agenda. Take my word for it - taught by experience I predict epic financial failure and a swift demise (which will be even more annoying for the people who invested time and money in their characters) regardless of the game's actual quality. I mean, c'mon - a small company from Georgia? What is their marketing budget? ;-)
