We play BF2 on a regulair basis. Mostly some 3 or more evenings per week.

If you have BF2 and would like to play along, you can best join our Mumbleserver and check the BF2 channel if we're playing (or any channel, cause we dont always go to the "right" channel).
Best chances to catch us playing is after 19:00 in the evening.

As we don't have a own BF2 server, we're mostly at either of these onces:
Gurkenplantage (64max)
Kifferstuebschen (64max)
Gotland 7 (64max)

I see you guys still manage to use steam for launching BF2, but when I do that I and try to connect to online games I get an error message about insufficient OS privileges (or something), because the game wasn't launched as admin. anyway to avoid this while still using steam?

I'll try and join you online at some point, although my ping and punkbuster don't like each other very much...

Maybe I'll install BF2 again, since I have it lying around somewhere.
But do you guys play with the expansion or without?

Sonny:
At your login screen, before you login you can add the tag on the top of the login box.

Scatter:
Seriousely, stop using Vista.
Or maybe this can help you somehow, or not, dno:
Quote:

Windows Vista
users are probably well aware that some select applications
(Visual Studio for me) only work properly when they are opened with administrative rights. You can always open a shortcut with admin rights by right-clicking on it and selecting “Run as Administrator”, but if you want to have it always launched as admin, do this simple change:

1. Right-click on the shortcut and select Properties.
2. In the Shortcut tab, click the Advanced button.
3. Check the box for “Run as Administrator”.
4. Click Ok to apply your changes.

Now whenever you use the shortcut it will be launched as admin automatically. You will still receive the Vista UAC prompt if you have it on.
Migu:
We play it without the expantions, but its adviced to have specialforces and have it played for atleast 1 map. This gives you extra weapons in BF2 itself, and you can unlock 2 guns each time you gain in rank.

got it working online, but it's so bloody frustrating. it looks like the sort of game I would really need to learnt the ins and outs of to be really competitive online, and I dunno if I want to put in that effort.

still, I'll give it a go with you guys and see if it helps.

Next Rank: Master Gunnery Sergeant
You are not yet eligible for the advanced rank of Sergeant Major because you are missing the awards: Basic Aviator Badge, Basic Ground Defense Badge.

lol @ saint

1.50 update is awesome in terms of content and gameplay changes and its typical BF2 update, cause my game already crashed more times than my tf2 over the past 6 monts during random things like changing resolution, trying to login, or map change

You can get one of my spare ones :P

Anyway, maybe try running the game outside of steam next time, sometimes i'm under the impression this causes packet flow problems. At least I didn't have any hang issues, but as far as I could've seen, the problems are still there :4 Looks like 2 gigs of rubbish and a few new maps, the maps are worth it though :4

Is anybody still playing this or MW2 only?

I snatched BF2 plus expansions from Steam for £7.50 and for first few hours have been a laugh.

Saint, Bucky and me can be found playing it every now and then. With left4dead2 and Saint's busy schedule we haven't been playing it a lot lately.
