Looks very nice indeed. Any minimum/recommended PC specs given yet? On a side note though, how anal would combat gear designer need to be in real life to put flashy "shoot-me-im-here" lights on combat armor? |

They have to meet specific fashion requirements or the army won't buy the armour.

Looks nice indeed. Though I'm even more excited about the new alien look and their new carapace that look more like armor plating than carapace :] |

If you read the full blog entry, you'll see that they have an explanation for all of that. While the original armor of the marines in NS was developed for marine vs marine combat, the new armor they're using in NS2, which takes place a few years after NS, is specifically made for marine vs. alien combat. That's the reason why those helmets don't have any kind of face protection, like they do in the original NS. It just removes a lot of your field of view, while adding no survival chance bonus because if an alien is already biting on your head, you're dead anyways. So, those blue lights don't add any advantage for the aliens (since they have different sensory organs than humans anyways) while they do make it easier for the marines. |

I really like those screenshots. The alpha and development tools will be released in November, the final game release is now scheduled for 2010. It seems their plans have changed a bit, since originally they intended to release the whole game in fall 2009 and they always said they can't even delay it if they wanted to, because their money would run out. But as they progressed they saw that if they would release now, they would have to cut the marine's exoskeleton and dynamic infestation and they didn't want that. So they started selling pre-order versions of the game to raise more money, which seems to have paid off. Apparently they have raised 200.000$ through pre-order sales; their starting capital received from their investors was 500.000$, so this is quite a huge amount of money for them. Now they hopefully include all their visions into the game. |

The first one ruined my GCSE's and A-Levels. I hope that this one ruins my degree. |

In-game video, no sound though. Quote: This video shows a simple mod we created for Natural Selection 2 to fine tune some features of the engine, like animation blending and physics. It also gave us a great opportunity to test out our content pipeline and modding infrastructure. This simple rifle range game was created from scratch (it's only about 500 lines of Lua code) and took very little time using the Spark toolset. This mod doesn't use any of the Natural Selection 2 game code, so the actual NS2 rifle behaves a bit differently. We thought you'd enjoy a peek!

They don't have eyes in their mouth, that would be silly :PBut the camera view point is still located in the mouth, that way you can see when you bite, plus it looks cool :] |

Quote: We have confirmed with Valve that pre-orders will transfer properly to Steam! As you know, we have been funded largely by preorders although many of you have been patiently waiting to hear if pre-orders would let you download and play the game on Steam later. The answer is YES!
Pre-ordering now gives immediate access to NS2 mapping tools and artwork as well as early access to the alpha or beta when ready. We are now testing our engine with a small number of players and will expand that to everyone that has pre-ordered the Special Edition shortly. ![]() Niiiiice. |
