Looks pretty awesome. Although I have the original Half-Life I couldn't be arsed to play it until the end because of the shit graphics (and also I have the uncool German version - soldiers got replaced by robots, no gore etc. -_-) but damn, seeing this trailer makes me wanna play that mod. Can't wait for it. I hope the devs DO release it in 2009 :-P

I know, normally I'm not the eyecandy guy but... I don't know, games with plots need some halfway decent graphics for me. I also find it extremely boring to play RPGs released for the SNES that are praised to be awesome games (Final Fantasy, Lufia, Chrono Trigger etc).


There's one good thing about HL though: It works with my semi-broken GPU =DDDD

Been following this ever since the... genesis. Admittedly I've lost interest now compared to the first few years when it was new but whenever they're close to release I'll probably go apeshit.

Of course I sort of have a boner when they're having a media release, can't escape that fact.

Theres no major difference compared to Half-Life.

I might also play BM when it comes out. No doubt when I retire in 25 years I will have plenty of time on my hands to play the newly released Black Mesa re-make.

They should rename it Black Duke Mesa Nukem - has a much better ring don't you think? :evil:

Thought this was fairly cool (video is really dark though):



It looks very much like those terminals in Doom 3 which you controlled with a mouse - I really liked those.

agreed, they have just done a basic port, the textures are low res and the modeling is really low poly. I'm sure Black Mesa will still have the same awesome, HL design, gameplay and storyline, but just look more appealing for what modern consumers come to expect.

Dont forget that they apparently used the same sounds as well (I hate this weird sound in HL1 when a door opens)

well hopefully they can use some assets from hl2 (which has great audio) or jsut make new stuff ^^

Half Life source is a shitty port of hl1. I prefer the goldsource version
