... manager of the WDR Radio Orchestra Cologne, who announced Symphonic Fantasies, a video game music concert that took place in the Kölner Philharmonie on September 12, 2009. In addition to the live performances, the concert saw a radio broadcast on WDR4 and, furthermore, was experienced by viewers via video streaming, a first in the world of video game music.
The concert was dedicated to Japanese developer Square Enix and included arrangements of compositions from Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross and Kingdom Hearts, all of which were presented in suite form. Uniquely, these suites were long at up to 18 minutes each, comparable to the length of movements in major symphonies. The concert was met with considerable praise and feedback from attendants, resulting in the announcement of another Symphonic Game Music Concert on September 24, 2010.
