My 250€ Western Digital 300GB Velociraptor hard drive failed on me today. Appearently. Lately the drive started taking longer and longer to be detected, which resulted in high boot times - I thought nothing of it since I had a history of just weird USB complications that don't even make sense. Every once in a while when I restarted, the drive was not detected immediately - I didn't even notice it because the second harddrive (which had broken boot info FROM THE TIME BEFORE WHEN THIS HAPPENED because I had to install windows on that thing while I waited for RMA'd hard drive) made a boot statement that stuff was broken and all the times I tried to fix it, I wasn't fixing my primary drive, but my secondary detected as primary. Yesterday I had to restart numerous times for the drive to be detected. I thought it was a bad connection since S.M.A.R.T. never gave a warning or anything. Today I've tried restarting about 15 times with different connectors and slots to no avail. And on top of that the internet is so slow I can't even watch the latest fucking South park. I gotta do an emergency backup when (if) the drive comes online. Where to, I have no fucking clue. I need an external raid 1 esata drive. The only thing I'm glad about is that WD gives 5 years warranty. Insert balls to the wall monkey gone apeshit bananas rage here. |

I had my 200GB HDD crashing few weeks ago too, lost some mp3's, movies and series. No biggy.![]() Sorry to hear that, Murk. ![]() But you are wrong Blacky, best metal music to this day was still made on 80's and 90's . ![]() Also in the nineties most of the best post rock, post hardcore, math rock, noise rock, IDM, Trip Hop... you know the nineties weren't that bad. HD failure fucking sucks... I try to keep backups of my most important stuff, music and work everything else I can download again. |
