Post subject:  Server maintenance on MrBlonde tomorrow
Last friday MrBlonde crashed without a kown reason. For another unknown reason we were unable to poweroff the machine remotely using the datacenter's APC switch we're connected on.

Leaseweb has manually rebooted the machine but reported that the default boot kernel would not boot and display tons of errors. To work around this they had booted up the server on a incorrect fallback kernel.

Leaseweb has now resetted the APC config, so tomorrow we're going to try a few things;
- Reboot MrBlonde by normal command to see if it returns on the correct kernel
- Reboot MrBlonde by APC switch to ensure remote reboots work again

If any of these fail i'll have to take a trip to the DC to further investigate. Due to this it might be that the server will be offline several hours. If both actions go good the downtime won't exceed 10 minutes.

Something around that... ye... I'm pretty sure that you shouldn't walk to far to the east... you coming near Germany makes servers crash over here. :demm:

this is being performed today (machine currently rebooting). I am near the datacenter, if it wont come back up i'll drive by as soon as my work is done.

machine doesn't appear to reboot by it self. I'll go to the DC in a few hours to see if i can fix it onsite.

ok, done messing about now, the correct kernel is back up and functioning.

it's nice that though stuff gets broke round here, it gets fixed twice as much :4
