The Necromancer (4970)
Heyho!
I recorded a video that completely fails to showcase Torchlight, a pretty fun Diablo clone developed by the same guys who actually DID work on Diablo 1+2 and Fate 1+2 (another Diablo clone).

The game is quite fun and polished - especially for its small size and affordable price. The environment designs change like every three levels, which is impressive. The art direction is cool too AND slightly cartoony at the same time, so take that League of Failgends.

Here's the video which consists of me shopping for 2/3rds of it and killing a boss monster in 10 seconds. ;-)

You may have to wait for the High Quality version to finish processing.

I especially enjoy the fact that the game doesn't force you to play it in any particular way and doesn't punish you for trying out strange things within the gameplay limits. E.g. I built a dual-wielding melee Alchemist (mage) and guess what - he works perfectly since he has access to weapon and armor proficiencies and stat-wise there's only a small starting difference. So, even though there are only three classes, each one of them has three skill trees that may be freely combined and thus the replay value is quite awesome. The game doesn't have a multiplayer component BUT it will be added in like 18 months - FOR FREE! :-D

P.S. The game is available on Steam!

Aye, it's nice. I like the great variations in the skill trees that allows for building the "mage" character for melee :>
Building me a titan warrior with defensive pick-up spells like life-drain and heals ^^

might pick this up at some point.

how exactly were you attacking? WoW-like action bars and clicking/hotkeys, or something else? kinda hard to make out (you might've explained it but I skipped the first 5 minutes when you were in town :ugly: )

Left click can be assigned a skill ( normal attack usually because most/all skills dont leech ).
Right click can be assigned a skill.
TAB swaps rightclick skill with an alternative skill.
1-9 or 0 can be assigned skills and items. I have a summon from corpse skill on 5 and it is cast wherever my mouse it. The other skills should work the same way.
F1-F12 can be assigned skills.

Left click = Move, + shift = Attack with holding position as known from D2

Hotkeys should be customizeable in the settings file.

My warrior has so much defence that no melee attacks hurt him at the moment, he can just stand next to bosses taking no damage if my pet casts silence :P I gave him uniques from my alchemist who is a high level (400 dps one handed sword at level 12 which adds +23 defensive attribute 8) ), he still gets bashed around a bit my magic attacks though if my dog doesn't cast it's spells :ugly:

All difficult levels start at level 1. After you finished the main quest there is a new dungeon in the southeast of the town though.

You can also retire your character:
-Creates new char at level 1 with fame level equal to the times you retired = more skill points from the start
-You can select one item as heirloom which is given to your new char with increased stats and -1 level requirement
-Makes your old character and the other items on it unuseable

You can change the difficulty with a console command, but I think the console doesnt work with the steam version and it marks your character as cheater. With the next patch both things should get fixed.

The harder difficulties aren't like Nightmare and Hell, they arent hard enough at the start to warrant you starting at level 30 :P
