I'm sorry if there's a suggestions section or a thread couldn't find one but I have a suggestion regarding forum functionality, if a suggestions section and/or thread exists you can just move this there thanks Anyhow I was thinking and ofcourse everyone knows that there are the View unanswered posts | View active topics -functions everyone knows them and they're fine and dandy and all but i think it would be brilliant if there was a third forum function called "View interesting topics and/or posts" so wouldnt have to browse through so much ____ thanks, tell me what you think please? |

I suppose if there was a rating system for posts the a Whats Hot function would work - if you only want to read those type of posts. That works really for me when I'm looking at forums with hundreds of porn posts per day, sorry I meant news posts per day. However do we have enough posts to make it truly useful? If there was a button that says 'Auto read all posts for you' then that really would be worth having. |

I would rather the forum was a sentient program that had it's own opinion's and taste. Would also be funny if it chipped in on conversations and made it's own posts. |

I think the main problem with that idea is that what may seem uninteresting or boring to one person may be something amazingly exciting to another. Also by putting this button down, it would then have to be decided on who would decide whether it was a popular topic or not. Public opinion may not be the best way for this , and so an arguement might set out , people might die. Do we want that? Also once we have 20 incredibly popular topics , will it be like the uk top 40 for music where despite a song being overplayed and annoying for so long , because it had such a high amount of interest yonks ago , they will still advertise and have it on top for a little while longer. If a topic 2 years ago was voted as popular , what happens after nobody posts on it for 5 months , is it still popular? why should it stay there? who framed roger rabbit? In the words of a great man "No , i dont think we should have this" - [SpA]Revenge (1990 - Present) We could all learn from this guys quote |

theres nothing wrong with less than 50 posts a day , its quality not quantity here. Which brings me onto why we need this new button lol |

this has generated a number of replies so I'm assuming it would have passed the magic button test.![]() In all seriousness though, is this a joke? I'm not actually against the idea in principle, I just agree that we don't have enough traffic to warrant the effort. Hey, if you think that's bad, you should try having a conversation with you. ![]() ![]() [SpA]Lim-Dul: Dude [SpA]Lim-Dul: I don't know what you think about board games [SpA]Lim-Dul: But Solium Infernum is brilliant - I didn't know this beforehand but it's actually almost exactly like a board game on the PC [SpA]Lim-Dul: The amount of things you can do each turn is mind boggling, though a standard Avatar can actually only perform two actions per turn [SpA]Lim-Dul: And I already see the potential for backstabbing ![]() [SpA]Santa Moist: A'right, link me [SpA]Lim-Dul: http://www.crypticcomet.com/games/SI/So ... ernum.html [SpA]Santa Moist: Did you buy it? [SpA]Lim-Dul: However, I'd start with this review [SpA]Lim-Dul: http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2009/12/col ... _how_s.php [SpA]Lim-Dul: To see if it's barking up the right tree [SpA]Lim-Dul: And check out this hilarious tutorial ![]() [SpA]Lim-Dul: http://www.scribd.com/doc/23753452/Soli ... Tutorial-1 [SpA]Lim-Dul: In fact the game is funny in that like normal board games it doesn't even come with a tutorial [SpA]Lim-Dul: You have to read the instructions ![]() [SpA]Lim-Dul: I didn't need to do that 'cause it's actually surprisingly easy to get into if you're a board game player and have encountered some of the heavier strategy stuff [SpA]Lim-Dul: I haven't bought it yet but I most certainly will - sadly the game makes not much sense when played against the AI [SpA]Lim-Dul: :-\ [SpA]Lim-Dul: And it's expensive for what it offers - perhaps not the concept but the production values etc. [SpA]Lim-Dul: It's obvious that a game which actually REQUIRES diplomacy before you can even attack anybody would be better played against human opponents ![]() [SpA]Lim-Dul: To start fighting with your opponent you need to either insult him, demand ridiculous amounts of resources and hope he won't send them or actually SEND some weak-ass tribute your opponent will refuse to accept ![]() [SpA]Lim-Dul: I wonder what kind of copy protection the game has [SpA]Lim-Dul: Perhaps if I buy it I might send it out as a, uhm, gift, to others ^^ [SpA]Lim-Dul: This is how I popularized the game "Gish" in another community ![]() [SpA]Lim-Dul: And some people bought it afterwards anyway - the creators of the game should thank me ![]() ![]() |

Chat windows are my post buffer - I use them to mentally prepare a post I'm going to make and what points will be included in it - it is irrelevant whether the other side is replying or even reading what I type. Coming up - a rant on Zelda: Spirit Tracks and purchase encouragement for Solium Infernum (who would have guessed from the chat log :-P). Remember this conversation? Quote: [SpA]Santa Moist: How much will it cost you to go to Budapest?
:-D
[SpA]Lim-Dul: Around the same as it cost me to get to the Netherlands [SpA]Santa Moist: Which was? [SpA]Lim-Dul: something like 100 Euros back and forth [SpA]Lim-Dul: I don't recall [SpA]Santa Moist: Hehe [SpA]Lim-Dul: Perhaps a bit more [SpA]Lim-Dul: Like 150 [SpA]Lim-Dul: Since 50% is obviously "a bit" ;-) [SpA]Santa Moist: If I fly to Warsaw from Scotland, it will cost me less than a quarter of the price it would cost me to fly directly to Romania [SpA]Lim-Dul: If you fly to Warsaw you will never leave Warsaw [SpA]Santa Moist: And if I flew to Poland first I would still make a saving of about 100 Euro's [SpA]Lim-Dul: Since you'll get murdered [SpA]Santa Moist: Haha [SpA]Lim-Dul: We don't like foreigners here [SpA]Lim-Dul: It's not about the skin color - it's whether they are true Polish Cathloics [SpA]Santa Moist: Well I'm not Polish or Catholic [SpA]Lim-Dul: E.g. this is a purebred Polish chick [SpA]Lim-Dul: http://i.wp.pl/a/f/jpeg/20975/1elite64.jpeg [SpA]Lim-Dul: You are not [SpA]Lim-Dul: ;-) [SpA]Lim-Dul: By our definitions :-D [SpA]Santa Moist: She's black [SpA]Lim-Dul: No, she's as Polish as me, by our standards [SpA]Lim-Dul: Perhaps even more so since I'm not Cathloic ;-) [SpA]Lim-Dul: Catholic [SpA]Santa Moist: Always a good idea [SpA]Santa Moist: It would make more financial sense to do that though [SpA]Santa Moist: About 40 quid to fly to Poland [SpA]Lim-Dul: Well - nobody ever flies to Poland from Scotland [SpA]Lim-Dul: It's usually the other way round [SpA]Lim-Dul: If you catch my drift [SpA]Santa Moist: At least the plane will be quiet [SpA]Lim-Dul: Yep, it will have tumbleweeds rolling by in the aisle [SpA]Santa Moist: I'd dubious about the price, I will admit [SpA]Santa Moist: I'm [SpA]Santa Moist: But I can't argue with a bargain [SpA]Santa Moist: Even if it will result in my death [SpA]Lim-Dul: Yeah, if you thought Romania was dangerous [SpA]Santa Moist: I didn't :/ [SpA]Lim-Dul: You know nothing about Poland [SpA]Lim-Dul: This is your typical Polish man [SpA]Lim-Dul: http://www.mmarocks.pl/wp-content/uploa ... nowski.jpg [SpA]Santa Moist: You've shown me that guys pic before [SpA]Lim-Dul: Just like this chick was your typical Polish woman [SpA]Lim-Dul: I know [SpA]Lim-Dul: Actually [SpA]Lim-Dul: It wasn't this guy [SpA]Lim-Dul: They just all look the same [SpA]Lim-Dul: All Poles do [SpA]Lim-Dul: It's our genes [SpA]Santa Moist: Yeah, I couldn't take my eyes off your massive guns when we were in Holland [SpA]Lim-Dul: Yeah - I wore a corset under the t-shirt [SpA]Lim-Dul: A typical practice in Poland [SpA]Lim-Dul: It has to be made from titanium, else it bursts [SpA]Santa Moist: Oh of course [SpA]Lim-Dul: It's hard to find a jacket that wouldn't rip on my massive biceps when I e.g. pick up a pen [SpA]Lim-Dul: We, the Poles, are the inventors of titanium undergarments [SpA]Lim-Dul: This is why Russia stopped making submarine hulls out of titanium [SpA]Lim-Dul: Poland is the largest importer of titanium in the world [SpA]Lim-Dul: The Russians realized it would be much more effective to use the titanium on undergarments and sell them in Poland on bazaars [SpA]Lim-Dul: And make the submarine hulls out of depleted Uranium [SpA]Santa Moist: What an impressively elaborate line of bullshit you're spinning tonight [SpA]Lim-Dul: Which also saves costs on balast tanks since the submarines go straight to bottom and hence can use wheels to roll on the ocean floor instead [SpA]Santa Moist: Lucky they're waterproof [SpA]Lim-Dul: Yeah [SpA]Lim-Dul: More cost saving measures are replacing torpedo casings with recycled vodka bottles [SpA]Lim-Dul: One of them shattering was the reason for the Kursk incident after all [SpA]Lim-Dul: The torpedoes use highly unstable Russian booze fuel [SpA]Lim-Dul: And provide beverages for the crew at the same time - they just have to be careful not to trip since then they will explode [SpA]Lim-Dul: (Which is what happened on the Kursk - a crewman forgot to sit down while peeing and his urine spontaneously combusted after coming in contact with the depleted uranium floor) |

Yeah, Lim does go on a bit when talking about games. Don't get me started on movies though. ![]() Quote: Craig says:
It's about time somebody apart from Pixar started making great films that kids can enjoy and remember and still love when they grow up Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Star Wars Loved that shit when I was a kid and still love it now The Goonies They don't talk down to them or try to distract them with ADD inspired imagery The reason these films are universally loved is because there are levels that everybody can enjoy them on Can you think of a great family film from the last decade? Maybe Pirates of the Carribbean Only 'Curse of the Black Pearl' though The other two are over complicated tripe Scott says: Yeah and they were shit don't forget that things not written with a big story in mind should be left as single movies Craig says: Yeah Scott says: you can't expand a story just on the basis that it's popular It's just always bad Craig says: The problem was that they tried to turn something quite light hearted and fun into some Lord of the Rings-esque epic Which had fail written all over it Scott says: People had the fever Craig says: The last one is just a complete mess Scott says: Yes it was Craig says: That pic of Jean Luc Picard face palming springs to mind whenever I watch it Scott says: No doubt mate Craig says: I got that vibe from the first though Of a quality family flick Scott says: Aye man Craig says: If they were determined to make sequels out of it, they should have taken a leaf from BTF Surely the pinnacle of what a great family film should be Scott says: It was mate And as I said it was something that had a grander scale in mind to begin with The movie ended with an opening to something new Hell even the last one kinda did that I don't think there will ever be an equal to BTTF Craig says: Not in my eyes It's perfection The first one anyway Aided greatly of course by Michael J. Fox and Chris Lloyd Scott says: Aye man Craig says: Just absolutely unforgettable Michael J. Fox's energy and frankly fantastic acting chops made for one of the best characters ever in my opinion Scott says: He was something special in that movie I always wonder what it would have been like if what's his face had stayed as Marty Craig says: Well you never can tell mate But it's nigh on impossible to imagine anybody but Fox as Marty Cause essentially, you think of him as Marty McFly Scott says: Yeah I remember seeing those early footage pics without him and it just felt deeply wrong Craig says: Haha Man. The 80's might have been a bit of a shit decade in most respects But it sure did produce some absolutely cracking movies Scott says: Aye they were so focused on movies everything else kinda took a nose dive Craig says: And how Plus there was big Arnie You can't not love Arnie He could be groping my Mum and I'd still be smiling Scott says: heh Craig says: Predator Total Recall Hell... Even Commando You feel like a man when you watch Commando Cause it's so damn OTT And obviously fake And of course Terminator Something needs to be done Scott says: Something but what ? Craig says: We need another decade of cinematic excellence Well giving the Studio's less creative control would help Look how they ruined Spiderman 3 I'm still pissed about that Scott says: Aye man We all are Craig says: It wouldn't be so bad if Spiderman 2 wasn't so relentlessly awesome But it was So it is! Scott says: It does make it so much more painful Craig says: I almost don't want Christopher Nolan to make a third Batman film cause of it The Dark Knight should be renamed 'Holy Fuck! This. Is. PERFECTION!!' My heart would break if I went to see a third film and it was like what Spiderman 3 is to Spiderman 2 Scott says: I don't see it happening that way myself Craig says: I'd have to go to Christopher Nolan's home and commit involuntary sepiku on him Scott says: Nolan has the nards just to drop it if he;s not feeling it Craig says: And I respect him for that I never questioned a single decision he made on TDK We always knew it was going to be the nuts Remember that conversation we had on your couch, like a year before it came out He pretty much met all expectations Scott says: He did mate Hey you saw me after the movie finished I was pretty much dumbstruck Craig says: There wasn't a dry crotch in the house I just felt like I was seeing the best movie I was ever going to see in the cinema For me personally And more importantly Scott says: yeah me too So I was kinda bummed Craig says: The greatest Superhero movie ever made The very pinnacle of the sub genre tbh Scott says: Aye Craig says: The thing is Batman Begins is a fucking excellent film And yet The Dark Knight is even better That blows my mind Scott says: they are just two damn fine movies Craig says: No doubt And I honestly couldn't be happier that Batman not only got the respect that the character deserves after he was absolutely shagged by Studio's and retarded Directors, but, that it produced films of such incredible quality I felt like applauding at the end of TDK If Chris Nolan wants me to blow him I will No questions asked Scott says: pfff You're welcome to do it mat e* Craig says: Haha Scott says: I'll give that a miss Craig says: It's nice to know I have your support though That'll make me feel a little better when I'm chomping on his banger |

Ha, ha - we had a discussion about James Bond recently, didn't we? ^^ And it started off as a Zelda: Spirit Tracks rant and why I think it's a good game but a TERRIBLE entry in the Zelda series if we take it as a sign of what direction the games are taking. |

now that I think about it, it isn't a terrible idea after all. think about some epic threads that have disappeared into obscurity; some of McMoists stuff comes to mind. they would be good reads for anyone new to the forum, so keeping some sort of tab on them might be handy to some folk. |
