Jesus. You're telling me I had to be outside in the only 4 hours of snow you get a year!?

Anyway, it won't snow here. It never really does. Although we do get the odd blizzard in March... So it's like everything else in Scotland. Broken and never there when you want it to be.

We've had years were we'd go outside in the middle of the night because it started snowing. The next morning it was gone, only snow in the year. It might go snow some this week according to some weather reports thought.

Actually we had snow way back a couple of months ago when there was a cold wave across Europe. We have a bit of snow now too but it's nothing to write home about - take Mr.green's 3 dm and turn it into 3 cm... Then divide by two. :-P

Yeah - snow rules. Skiing, riding sleds, skating, building snowmen with phallic parts - winter is probably my favorite season - it's cold, yes, but not in the unpleasant kind of way like in autumn or early spring. Of course it must suck in a country where it's only cold and never snows. :-P

The only advantage of having snow is that the roads are slippery and you can have tons of fun at night drifting :)

There is something about playing in the snow as a kid - especially after school in the dark when it first starts to snow. Memories that seem to come back for me include:

- 'Is it gonna settle?' was the most important question all kids asked and hoped the answer was yes.
- Gloves were mostly made made of wool or some other useless fabric when I was a kid and only kept your hands warm for the first 5 minutes. After that they got wet they actually made your hands colder and weighed a tonne - but it didn't matter as mum said you had to wear them.
Once your gloves did get wet they never had enough time to completely dry before putting them back on. But we didn't give a monkeys - they still went on because mum said so.
- Bobbly hats and wellies were the daddy.
- It is possible to wear six pairs of socks and still put your wellies on.
- Someone always finds the dog crap covered by snow.
- Listening to local radio and praying the schools heating system would pack up.
- The pain of having a hot bath after being frozen from playing in the snow for hours.
- Salt/Grit is an evil fun spoiler when you are kid and bloody essential to go anywhere when you are grown up.
