I hope you cant wait for portal 2 - good news ! Game is delayed till 2011 ! What a surprise !
Quote:
June 9, 2010 -- Aperture Science, doing business as Aperture Laboratories LLC, in partnership with Valve today announced the successful completion of an ethics-review-panel-supervised release date restructuring process. Portal 2, the sequel to the ground-breaking title that earned over 30 Game of the Year awards despite missing its original ship date, is now targeted for a 2011 release.

Representatives from both companies acknowledged that public safety concerns factored into the decision. They went on to say that even though Portal 2 will arrive slightly later than planned, all life on earth won't instantaneously stop as every molecule in your body explodes at the speed of light, which is what would happen should a rip ever appear in the fabric of Valve Time.

"Also, the game will be even better," they added, missing an historic opportunity to create the first product delay press release to mention that a product is being delayed to make it worse.

To ask questions about how close we all came to dying, or to ask futile questions about the previously announced E3 ***PORTAL-2-THEMED-FOR-GOD'S SAKE*** surprise or, less futilely, to schedule an appointment to attend a Portal 2 screening at the Valve booth during E3, please contact Valve's delegate to the EU's Valve Time Studies Group, Doug Lombardi.

Rumor has it that VALVe is going to show a new engine and game on the E3. This would be the "Source 2 engine" and HL3. Perhaps Portal 2 requires that engine as well?

#edit
New engine would be silly, this one is a modular engine which can get upgraded piece by piece. Perhaps a massive update maybe. Hmmm who knows who knows... Linux?

They wont anytime soon, they prefer to act the most stupid way - make the least expected sequel in L7D5, make us wait 4 years for portal 2 and 2000 years for EP3 and pretend tf2 is new and exciting by making 1000 updates per year, most of them being "ruin class/weapon x/fix back class/weapon x". Of course they can do that, since they make tons of money from steam platform. I appreciate working on new engine, but really new engine should be developed for Portal 3 and Half Life 3, not portal 2 and Hl2:EP3. Unless they have no idea how to make more sequels and just keep delaying those games to think of something better.

The Necromancer (4970)
The original Portal team fell apart for one reason or another. Some of them left Valve for other companies, apparently. i.e. Kim Swift, who was the project lead on Portal.

I still highly doubt they'd release hl3 while not finishing the hl2 story (ep3), since hl1 and hl2 were completely different settings I think hl3 will be as well~
And the source engine is now the 2009 version, I wonder if this will be source2.. we'll have to see~

Portal delayed T_T

 hehe very true, im pretty sure gabe said fuck the ps3 in an interview about the aftermath of the orange box and that in general its well akward to code for or something but now... different tune, i guess he forgot to mention in his E3 speech, the butt load of money that was stashed into a bun for him to get the next valve game on to the playstation 3.

Half of Sony's press conference was bitching about "content exclusive only just for ps3, which is the leader in x and y and z and l and every other excel chart we can think of" = we payed them a lot of money so the content is exclusive and everybody will buy ps3 nao !
