Why do companies produce gamepads with analog sticks if they're not actually analog? :7

I bought myself a cheap-ass USB PC gamepad with an analog stick that is digital.
Digital means it only knows if you press in a direction, analog also recognizes how strong (eg for walking slowly). I'm kinda pissed off because I miss that function, and because it makes no sense at all to do put a D-Pad and 2 "Analog"-Sticks on a gamepad if all 3 are digital :?

now i understand :) if its for pc mate, why not just buy a second hand 360 controller :)

The shape doesnt seem very appealing to my small hands - I prefer PS2-style gamepads.

PS3 control has usb... not sure about drivers though,... but then u have those shit triggers, and sticks... well u could buy those press on nails for it.

or get bigger hands ^^ then u can enjoy the ergonomics of the xbox controller.

sony controllers are just not ergonomic, its really not healthy for your thumbs to be moving out rather than inwards.

I think it's only about personal habits.
PS3 for me is perfect, as I owned a PS2 before.
And you can say what you want, but the fact that the PlayStation controller did not change much since PS1 means something. ;)

Yes I do. I do admit though that I never held on my own hands. I've just seen them in the shops. I do however also not plan to buy one because they're overpriced and clones are usually not really good.

Yes I bought a PS2/3-clone gamepad (well, not really - it doesn't even have the generic start and select button in the middle :lol: Only 3 buttons for the useless tubro function which can't be changed) but only because it was cheap. From my google researches, 360 clones start from 30€.

How can you possibly judge that the controller is too big if you've never held one? :?

Go to an internet cafe or something where they have Xbox 360's, and have a shot of one. You'll soon realise that as controllers go, it's damn near perfection.

As for the PS/2/3 pad. I've never really liked it. I liked it when it was purely digital, but when they added the analogue sticks, I was not impressed at all. Especially as I also had an N64, and most of the time, the controller for that felt like an extension of my own limbs with the analogue stick.

Playing Mario 64 was nigh on orgasmic. Then to go from that to Ape Escape with the PS1 Analogue pad was all just a bit gay. And I've kinda always had a beef with it since tbh.

yeah sony got the ps1/ps2 pads pretty good then fucked up the ps3 pad, have u seen the "triggers" they are the wrong shape and have so much resistance (thus have to contruct fake press on nails for them as attachments u buy seperatly - it was a massive fuck up), and the xbox has much better control sticks - as they go inwards.

go try one, im sure you can get a second hand xbox controller off ebay nice and cheap, at least 2/3 off. or ur local game shop.
