I am looking for a sync tool and i wonder if anyone might know any app which does the following: I want to have a network drive mapped to a directory on my laptop. What i want for the directory on my laptop is that when i store files in it, it will move these files to the network drive as soon as the network drive becomes available. I do not want to keep a local copy of the file on my hard drive, however i do want to see all the network stored files on that network drive listed and accessible in the directory on my laptop whenever i require it (i could access it trough VPN and such). Basically what i want is being able to store files in that directory whenever I'm not connected to the network, so i don't first have to get myself connected to the network prior to placing the files there. It should move these files to the network drive as soon as it is possible. The directory only should be accessible when i have a active connection to the network. When ever I'm disconnected it should serve as temp. directory. anyone getting what I'm after? ![]() |

I don't know about any data replication tool that will do that without having a fit when it cant find the host. If there is I would like to know ![]() There is an SVN tool I used along time go http://tortoisesvn.net/ that might be of some use as it stores local snapshot of the host files Thinking out the box if the files are not massive take a look at amazon s3 its costs hardly anything for the storage http://aws.amazon.com/s3/#pricing really cheap and I'm sure connection speed wont be a issue. |

It's sensitive data so i can't store it at a 3rd party. I'll keep hunting and let you know once i find a tool matching my criteria. |
