it's been a while, hasn't it? I know it's usually Sonny that organises this, but... we'll just call this the idea thread for now, nothing actually scheduled yet.

so. the past few times we've been trying to do something a bit different, so here's some of the stuff we could go for - a completely open ended list I should add, most things are viable, just so long as we have the numbers to pull it off. basically, if you have a bright idea, tell us about it :4

stuff that's come up already includes Highlander match (9 players per team, one of each class) and playing CTF only maps.
to get us started, here's a thought; on the whole there's probably more SpA's interested in playing than community guys, so perhaps a system involving more than 1 team (maybe less people per team?) playing a few different games could work better? and do we have enough community interest in the first place anyway?

of course, we can always just go with the big setup, 12vs12 I think, it's just that I've noticed the suggestions and tendency recently to mix it up a bit.
anyway. let's hear your thoughts!

The problem with highlander is that its only 9v9, that is why we usually did 12v12 so 6 more players can join in.
The thought of something going over a longer period with more smaller teams came up in the past already, the question is, if people, also outside from the community, want to participate.
It came so far that I did all the testing for 3v3/4v4 already, concerning maps as well as rules and configs, but in the end it wasnt realised because the technical support, also I bumped the thread several times, just didnt come. :|
If people are interested in something like 3v3/4v4 and if there's some support this time, I'll gladly do it. :wink:

orrrr... seeing as it's world cup time, how about we do something involving teams where everyone is from the same nation? it could work particularly well with bball, but would be very cool if we could get it working on a bigger scale (even if we do have to, for example, amalgamate France and Belgium, Scandinavia, whole of UK, Eastern Europe etc etc to make the numbers work)

Also a thought that came up in the past ^^
But its quite unlikely to find teams from several countries, there's so much organisation involved and lots of tasks have to be given to others. Since I doubt anyone can be arsed to manage lets say 12 teams, so every team needs a leader, who has to gether at least 6 players to work with. It's a good idea, but probably the hardest one to organize, because of a shitload of preparation and countrysided as well as classsided restrictions. :18

Edit: Even melting countries together wont make it easier tbh, it offers a larger pool of players, but might also offer language barriers as well as nations that are "not meltable" ^^

plus aren't all the community players SpA now ^^

Would be nice to get a bit of a shake up from the matches we've had in the past, especially since there must be a lot more [SpA] players now than there would be for the community team. :roll:

I found the thing with the pyros + homing rockets fun, might be quite a good thing to do with all-talk on and shizzle.
