Update: woot, the winners just got announced, http://www.teamfortress.com/, Winners: The Gasman (pyro) Tank Buster (Soldier) Special Delivery (Scout) Croc-o-style (Sniper) Saharan Spy (Spy) Not suprised that the Croc-o-style pack won, that ones awsome, can't say i'm too impressed with the solly pack but at least the rocket launcher looks different than the 2 we already have, which most of the other solly packs didn't, can't believe that spy pack got in ![]() |

Oh yea, there were some really awesome stuff in there... wish they'd implement most of it xD Remember one syringe gun that looked like it hit like small trucks, I'd want that one :) |

are the new weapons from this going to be purely re-skins, or will there be new community weps w/ new stats? |

All fan made stuff introduced by Valve had its unique abilities. Afaik the only reskin in the game is the Sam&Max preorder revolver and pistol. |

Ok. Digged a bit deeper in the polycount contest site and found this among the rules for the contest: "This is a visual change to the TF2 weapons only. Designing new gameplay & mechanics for your weapons is unnecessary." I cried for several minutes afterwards :'( |

Well because Valve designs the stats for the items not the creator of them. |

I figured the they threw in a concept along with the model, and left it to Valve to balance it if they liked the concept. Oh well, I'll live through it even without new mechanics, some of the visuals are rather appealing :) |

This was only for the actual contest, from what i understand valve plans to take the winning models and make them into acctual community weapons

E-mail from Robin saying they are going to be fully fledged community weapons. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... ?t=1359936 Quote: Hey all
I emailed Robin the Great and he replied nicely. Please enjoy the answer, and a very crude picture of a demoman with dreadlocks http://yfrog.com/f/j5robinonpolyskinsp/ |

and we also know that every class is gonna have atleast 1 pack (some valve guy confirmed it on polycount forum, but i don't remember what topic exactly) and he also said that it's gonna take some time before the update will be released, cause' they need to add some stats and balance the items. ![]() |

Aye, makes sense. I can wait for it patiently though as it seems this will be the single biggest content patch in TF2 history, which makes it worth waiting for :) |

Aye! :D I was wondering what Valve had in mind after they've gone full circle with all the class packs. With the new models some of the workload is lessened, but still seems they will have to figure out the mechanics and balance them and make the weapons fit in to animations or make new ones. Quite some work, though I'm happy they seem committed to it :) |

10th class incoming after polycount (they kinda confirmed it in a blog post, can't remember which one) trade system and meet the pyro. ![]() blog post: http://tf2.com/post.php?id=3692&p=1 Quote: Big team meeting today. I came prepared. I've been programming a playable demo version of TF2 with an entirely new tenth class. I had to teach myself programming, modeling, level design, character design and about twenty other skills, but I think the results speak for themselves. Everybody took a crack at playing it.

No offence, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for a 10th class after reading that blog post. Seems they're just making fun of them self and the community for taking hats to seriously xD Also, meet the pyro and the trade-system isn't even mentioned in the post :x |

a 10th class would be a bitch to design and balance... especially 3 years on. |

They say at least 100 items are good enough to be uncluded in future updates. ![]() The Anti Tank Missile Launcher looks nice, but I wonder what the Batallions Backup will do. Milkman is not one of my favorites. New Spy knife \o/. Croc set. ![]() We need a larger inventory soon. ![]() |

Quote: Unluckily for them, we're also going to attach gameplay attributes (probably of a game destroying nature) to these items, sullying their perfect work with our clumsy attempts at game design.
THEY are gonna be community weapons, like the demoman axe for example, so yeah, they are gonna be unique items with STATS. |
