For RAW conversion and lense correction I have used DXO optics for the past few years and now swear by it. It does in seconds what it would take me hours to do manually. In particular I never realised how much lense distortion occurs which DXO corrects, even on expensive lenses.
Is a bit pricy but in my view well worth the money.

Have a look here (trial version available)

Autocollage - I find this software always gives good results.

I'm looking around at software, but Lightroom seems a little pricey. Is it really that good?

I'm a bit of an Adobe fanboy when it comes to their editing software, I find their programs the most intuitive and love them to bits :3

Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, Lightroom and Soundbooth <3

GIMP FTW. It's totally the best program there is. Also, for free.

I freakin' love it!
Why is Lightroom so good? I messed around with it for about hour and couldn't really see what it actualy does - is it an alternative to something like photoshop?

Lightroom is more like the Camera RAW in Bridge but it's got better features and you can control a lot more, including changing the lens from the one that was originally used to fish-eye, wide-angle; the list is massive. You can control the WB and there are plenty of really good presets to choose from. You will only be able to use Lightroom to it's full extent if your photo's have been taken in RAW format. Otherwise you might as well stick to Camera RAW in Bridge or just Photoshop.

Lightroom is essentially a skin for some of photoshop's functionality making it easier to access, there's little maybe nothing there at all that you can do with photoshop, its just presented to work for a photographer rather than an artworker, the programs workflow is so slick its untrue making large volume editing a dream, and its cache is just a god send.

I still prefer lightroom and then photoshop... but I doubt I'll go back to just using photoshop any-time soon

I guess that accounts for the workflow

Despite the name it reminds me a lot of my time editing in genuine dark rooms with an airbrush and paintbrush

So I guess I should look into lightroom then. I've been using my old Photoshop CS3 for a while now, looking into upgrading to CS5 though.
