Day 1. In a dark hole.
My only memory is of lightning illuminating a ship. Horrid faces of fellow travelers on a failing ship. Braking wood and flying bodies. Darkness.

I wake up at dusk besides a waterfall. A tree is giving me shade and protection from near and distant eyes. I hear howling sounds far away giving the setting sun a farewell. In panic I run to nearest rock face and start digging with my bare hands. I need to find shelter before the owners of those howls focus their attention on more earthly needs, food, most probably me.
It is only dirt and gravel and I manage to open up a space just enough for me to fit in. I close the wall up behind me with dirt and wait. Every now and then I open up my entrance. I see darkness and shadows lurking around. I have seen enough and try to sleep on the uneven rock beneath me.

Day 2. Saying goodbye to a friend
I wake up in the middle of the day, my hands still bleeding from digging yesterday. I need something less painful to dig with. I need a pickaxe. I look at the lands around me and there is only one tree around. With bleeding in my heart I take down my tree. Being careful to save a sapling.
With my new pickaxe I expand the hole I slept in. And look: coal lots of it.
When night falls I lock myself in again, in the flickering light of a torch this time. I dig around for im not tired yet. I have found some weird looking red rock and iron ore. There must be more around. Deeper, deeper, I feel a renewed strength in my limbs and a fire in my soul:
I may not know where I come from but I know where I’m going!
I will burrow deep and long.

Cue deeper underground:

I'll be adding screen shots when the server gets up again.
