Post subject:  iPhone 4 or HTC Desire HD?
I might be getting a new phone and I'm thinking about which one to get: iPhone4 or HTC Desire HD.
(At the moment I use HTC HD and I'm quite satisfied, although it's been getting a bit slow lately (it IS windows mobile after all))

Has anyone got any experience with either of these phones?
From what I've gathered:
iPhone probably looks nicer and is probably faster. 8)
but Desire HD runs on android and has a lot of free apps and user-submitted content. Also, there's no iTunes or other software to bitch you. :mrgreen: And the screen is huge!

I need my phone to be able to read/write japanese and have some dictionaries, then the usual stuff (browsing net, e-mails, texts... maybe even calling) :mrgreen:

Any suggestions are welcome! :18

I've had an iPhone and I found it ok to use. But the novelty soon wore off for me. I've heard alot about the HTC and even more about the Android OS. Bucky and Saint recommended me to get an Android and I've also noticed that many of my friends use it too. So if I were you I'd stick to HTC and maybe look into Android.

Well, the screen on it isn't fantastic, but that's more to do with the handset than anything else. I'm sure the Desire's is much better.

Android itself is pretty sweet though.

It's a pretty awesome phone and i would recommend it.
Anything particular you want to know about it?
The battery life is huge on this phone, i use mine as an mp3 all day and it'll last a couple of days without needing charging. :)

don_don_don: does it have multi-touch screen? i couldn't find this information anywhere. Also, is the camera awesome? My HTC HD has 5 MPx camera but no flash, so if taking pictures in artificial light, it's always blurry. :evil:

I have the HTC Droid Incredible and I loove it! :) It fits in all my pant pockets, yet it functions like the phones that normally wouldn't(like those bulky blackberries or the first droid). XD

You can make your droid do whatever you want REALLY easily, and with a lot less complicated stuff that the iPhone has. :)
Like wifi tethering and stuff is extremely easy!!

I got the HTC Desire (non HD), I like Android super much ... the touchscreen sucks.
But the HD has the keyboard, if I knew earlier it would come I wouldve waited for it.
If you like msging using a touch screen get the iPhone :p

I'm looking for a phone that you can see the whole conversation when you text. I have a tendency to forget the message by the time I get to reply :| Bucky recommended to me the xperia x10 mini pro, I like small phones, but because I'm on pay as you go I probably won't be able to use all the benefits. Bucky has that one now and he loves it.

I was thinking of getting the samsung galaxy s but it doesn't have a flash which annoys me, still want a super amoled screen though ;(

I was also thinking of the Samsung Omnia 7 but it's slightly more expensive than the galaxy s and WP7 has just been released so I don't want to have to deal with bugs and shizzle.

was wanting a desire for a LONG time after playing with my friends HTC, and opted for the HTC Desire HD after reading all the reviews / previews that basically say its the same as teh desire but with a better screen, processor and camera.

personally i think when you buy apple products, your paying all that money to get a giant apple on your product. they are a fashion statement and nothing else. it speaks volumes when the PHONE on the iphone 4 doesnt even work properly lol

ill have a play with my HD over the weekend and report back mate.

i got mine on Orange for 22.50 a month for 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 500mb internet. handset was free too. (i was due and upgrade and did the whole 'im gonna cancel if you cant give me a good price' thing i do every time my contract is due)

Considering the price of the iPhone 4 compared to android phones which are the same standard if not better in some areas, it's pretty stupid to get one.

As long as the manufacturers actually release the android OS updates...

Yeah I don'T know what got into me when I started this topic.

Of course HTC is better! I saw Android in action and it's really neat. :4
iPhone doesn't even have Today screen (the one with clock, calendar for today, widgets and so on...)

And the price is also very different!
I repent for my sins (i.e. considering iPhone) :shock:

But my dad will be getting iPhone 4 :lol: But I guess for someone who just wants to text and call and maybe use the camera, it's sufficient, if really overpriced

My wife has an Android and I have an iPhone 3GS. Technically the HD Desire is better than my 3GS, but there us no way I'd change. In fact my iPhone is the first phone in 20 years that I haven't wanted to upgrade when my contract expired.

I not going to put down the Desire as it a great phone. I will tell you why I won't be changing are:

- Its an ipod with iTunes. No messing it's the best phone for music and I listen to a lot.
- Apps. In my opinion the whole point of smart phones are apps and the iPhone will always have more, plus some really good little games to boot.
- Docking stations. Seriously you can but a Toilet with iPhone docking stations, everything seems to be made with one.
- Everything is easy.
- Ongoing updates. Next one apparently enables you to print directly from the iPhone.




Having used a iPhone for nearly 18mths there us only one negative. No Flash support for web browsing.

tbh , I think there will be more apps on android and iphone may be the best phone for ppl who pay for music :P
If i could choose between an open source OS and windows on a computer for instance, I would like to be able to chose the open source OS. The day is coming closer that we can play every game on linux I think :mrgreen:
Iphones are sweet for a certain group of ppl and I'm just not one of them.

If I could get it for the same reasonable price as the top android/wp7 phones, then I would have a very hard time choosing between the 3, but the fact is that it is way too overpriced at the moment (iPhone 4). It doesn't even have the best hardware on the market.

I think there is a new Motorola droid phone coming out in Q1 2011 which will have a 2ghz cpu, dunno where I heard it though.
