Painterly Pack: ![]() Same shot using Frenden's Pack for comparison: ![]() Doku's Pack, updated by 3rd party: ![]() Oh, and although not a texture pack this is a neat 'mod' to try, adds ambient occlusion: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic ... 25&t=55700 |

Frenden's Texture Pack, hands down. Anybody not using it will be banned from the server. :-P The only "happy" texture pack that doesn't make everything brown, dark and depressing and also doesn't give you eye cancer at greater distances where higher rez textures start inter-blending unpleasantly (as shown in Orcworm's screens - the Painterly Pack is especially guilty of this). To make full use of it you'll need the HD Texture Fix (for animated fire and custom water/lava) patch and the Occlusion Patch as posted above. http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic ... 25&t=46173 http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic ... 00&start=0 Ah, I also made slight edits to Frenden's pack - gave the zombie pigmen a bit more flesh on their heads, "fixed" cows' eyes and made the ores blend in nicer with smooth rock. You can download my version here: http://www.mediafire.com/?5fiyk9aa67d3yfi Screens of my edits found here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic ... 4#p1152354 Sample views of SpAradise City: ![]() ![]() |

That is not very nice: installing shit without giving me a notification... Found it now thanx Ow and: What would be the correct step in installing the skins: theres some conflicting info in the threads linked: we could start working on a proper shedule here and if it is finished move it to the wiki. 1. Dl minecraft alpha, run it ones. This will create minecraft folders The most important folder is located in document and settings: C:\Documents and Settings\[profilename]\Application Data\.minecraft (Called MSDIR from now on.) 2. Backup your minecraft.jar located in MSDIR\bin 3. Install occlusion patch http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic ... 25&t=55700 a. Unpack into MSDIR not in a sub directory b. Run the Mrmpatcher.jar java executable. c. Select minecraft.jar (twice!!) d. click patch 3. Download a texture and save the file unpacked in a directory eg: MSDIR/textures eg: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic ... 25&t=46707 4. Run mcpatcher http://github.com/downloads/pclewis/mcp ... -1.1.7.exe a. Save in MSDIR b. Run the executable c. Select minecraft.jar (twice!!) d. Select the texture pack file e. click patch It should be running now |

Download the file. Open it with winrar or something. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\Your_name\Application Data\.minecraft\bin And right-click minecraft.jar, open with winrar. The folder is by default hidden, so you must go to your pc, go to tools, folder options, see, and check show all hidden files and folders. Ok, you unrar the minecraft.jar, and you had already open the texture pack, now simply grab everything that is on the texture pack and drop it on minecraft.jar (Some texture packs work diferently, read the README file) Now open the game and voilà . Note: Everything is translated from Spanish, so some stuff might be different. Note 2: This is for Windows XP. ![]() Hope it helped. |

So, Frenden has updated his texture pack for beta. The Squid is hilarious! ![]() IT'S A TRAP! (and it has a proper beak) Here's the download link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18674365/Minecr ... TPV6_1.zip And here's a download link for Ollieboy with differently colored gravel: =) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18674365/Minecr ... _Ollie.zip I also included all the alternate textures that Frenden made for his upcoming pack customization site - you can just open the .zip and edit terrain.png with whatever - just select a 16x16px block and paste it over an existing one. I ordered them by type and included the default texture as reference for what is what. ![]() |

Frendens does look kind of good, I might have to get it (even though I generally don't like texture pack type things). |

Ahh i remember the good old days off appdata/whatever/somethingelse Mine is //home/planitia/.minecraft/whateveritisfromhere Anyway I use vanilla (Don't ban me Lim) for now and transparent for cave and dungeon hunting. Also for finding hidden tunnels. But I might try out some others. Painterly looks nice and so did orc's other one. I forever don't like frendens (Don't IP ban me Lim) because it looks like someone opened paint and used fill on everything. I might try it but I doubt ill use it long term. |
