Freebuild or SMP?

Me?

SMP, because houses are actually useful, plus it has more block types, and ofcourse compass-porting!
Freebuild is just the same thing everytime - build a bit, kick a griefer, and fly holding shift over a world 50 times before logging off.
SMP is a new adventure everytime =P

I agree. Freebuild is only good for huge builds, but when you see builders of the same calibre on SMP gathering materials and implementing defense mechanisms, it's so much more impressive. The amount of modding Lim has been able to implement also makes our server more fun and civil than most. Plus, WE HAVE PIGS! :D

Freebuild got me into Minecraft as it did to many. Don't throw it out. I have too much nostalgia there to say one or the other. Right now I like SMP for the reason of more difficulty, the collection, the planning, and that's what I like; but I won't sell either short of the other.

I don't really have Minecraft to fight mobs or anything, that isn't what I am looking forward to. Instead I like the team part. Leonark and I put a lot of ourselves into designing a city on a game. Xesdra and I put a shitload of effort into half recreating a The Imperial City on a game. Bits and Bytes. Some people judge me for liking Minecraft so much, but the main reason I like the game, and the reason I got into the game is displayed in both. No vote from me because I'm considering this retrospectively.

Also I bet this will turn into a pissy little shitfight of "mine's better".

I still go on Freebuild alot, but only for short periods. SMP simply just has more to do =P

I still prefer freebuild, smp is pretty dead sometimes. Freebuilds better for creativity, and more fun to mod. Whereas smp is more of a game. I usually go on smp to self indulge in my own builds and stuff, but I prefer to chill, help out, and chat on fb.

Freebuild, still haven't understood the point of smp.

On freebuild I can actually build something without wasting time mining/buying stuff, I can fly to reach spots I couldn't reach otherwise. smp is, first of all, too glitchy, doesn't even have mobs, no hell either, I don't see the point of finding caves if you can't be scared to face a creeper on the next turn. I like smp still, but like 10 minutes every week. While I spend hour+ everyday on freebuild.

To be fair you can fly in SMP...
Mobs will work as soon as Notch fixes some CPU issue in the current game version.

I have my heart stuck on freebuild for now. SMP reminds me of my time with Oblivion. Vanilla Oblivion (indev) was decent, but it had soo much potential to be transformed into this new, perfect game through countless mods. I would spend much more time researching, downloading, and troubleshooting new mods than I would actually playing the game. The problem here, though, is that instead of being able to fill up all 255 mod slots, I have to wait for Notch to release the latest "mod". I know the two games aren't the same, but I get the same feeling when playing Alpha or SMP. Classic mode doesn't feel that way for me. It's its own complete game.

I like them both equally, SMP for the sense of teamwork and the "hard labor" you have to put into it and Freebuild because of the epic builds you can make there. I'll stick with SMP for now because Notch is actually adding new stuff ( I know right!!).

notch needs to stop ADDING stuff and start FIXING stuff.

At the moment i prefer smp, freebuild is nice for relaxing though.

Freebuild gets old after hundred and hundreds of hours over months and months and months. Smp tends to always offer a new experience.

From an admin standpoint Freebuild >>>>>>>>>>>>>> SMP but well, that's due to Notchness. ;-)

Other than that I don't think there's true rivalry - there's a place for both modes. I'm amazed by what people do on both servers and both of them have developed a sprawling community - I'm also impressed by how the two places have become self-sustaining apart from a hiccup here and there. =)
