Post subject:  Minecraft Server
Hi a few of my friends and myself have our own minecraft server that we rent. I am the administer for it, which i dont mind doing but as i regulary play TF2 on the SpA server i thought i would ask who is the best SpA person to ask any question about being the admin for the server? And help with any tech questions?

Fragmer only knows about Creative Mode, not SMP.

Why was I incorrect? I said fragmer since he is the classic guy, Lim, since he is our overlord, and Haf since Lim doesn't like to be bothered. Scouse didn't specify if his server was SMP or Classic, so I just answered for both.

Scouse i have to really apologise for the responses you have had, and that none of these people (except saint - "rocky") have been able to even show you the slightest bit of common courtesy or just spam, especially since you are new to the community and a friend of mine and kaos.

Can someone just give the guy a few pointers ffs, jeez...its not like he's asking you to run his fucking server.

Its really hard to define the "right" way to moderate a Minecraft server. There probably isn't one.

Are you renting an alpha or a classic server?

My advice would be to ask on the main Minecraft forums.

Each server turns out unique based on the interest of its operators and players, so you won't find two exactly the same, and setting up one with everything ours has may not be suitable for a specific group.

Typically, Lim, or Haf are the best to ask for SMP, but I couldn't say much about Freebuild.

My advice would be to check the minecraft forums more often :) If you're talking about classic, then im possitive we can help you set up some kind of way to easily run your server and moderate it. If you're talking about smp, in my opinion it will be a little more difficult, however we can STILL help you. Please specify whether you mean Classic or Survivor Multiplayer first though.

Hi,

It is an SMP server, which i have now upgraded to Beta, but untill a new version of hmod is released (132) the server is down.

Thanks Balls also for the link you posted, it was a very interesting read.

Actually 132 is already there if you know how to compile Java from source - it still isn't compatible with Beta. We will have to wait for 133, which won't be released until the 24th. =)
