First, Happy new year to everybody!

So, i've had this thought for some time now after i got myself a 3D TV few weeks back.

How is the posibility to watch downloaded 3D movies from my Eee Box onto my 3D TV?
Now, the machine dont have the best PC specs because its built for simple use, so i wonder if it needs more resources to play a 3D movie than a normal DVD movie if it is possible at all?

I just bought myself an eebox :4

There might be something that you can download onto the eebox to allow you to watch 3D movies. Ditch might know.

Nah I didn't bother with the blu-ray. I might see how windows is first before I think about loading up linux. Not sure about the software to change your remote settings but I do know it's possible to change them through linux.

Running BRs on Windows legally is a pure pain-in-the-ass.

Is there anyway I can turn my bog standard VHS cassette recorder into a Blu Ray player?

I know it's old technology, but I'd hate to have to throw it away because the particular media it was designed for is now dead. If I could easily upgrade it into a Blu Ray player though, that would be great and would save it from the inevitable. :D

Since we are talking 3D here, Toshiba is showing big 3D TVs that you can watch without glasses at the CES! Can't wait to see some of those myself. :D

Except the 3D can only be seen from 3 viewing angles, meaning they are pretty pointless. 3D is pointless anyway at the moment :?

It's being developed, not something I'd like to spend a load of money on atm though.

Have you tried it out? Is it that bad?
Also Mini, I heard you could watch 3D from a wide viewing angle on those TVs...but maybe I'm just wrong. ;)

yeah, it doesn't encompass angles in between each fixed viewing angle for 3d.

You forget i work in game development m!gu ;) but the dev kit literally was a DS duct taped to a circuit board, but it was good to see a 3D bart simpson and alien.

but we are not developing anything for it at the moment, just trying out the tech etc.

Lucky you then, I'd really love to see that new tech with my own eyes. :D

Post subject:  Re: 3D movies, 3D TV, PC

The appeal for 3D really isn't there for me personally right now. I'm interested in the technology, and I do enjoy the experience when I go to see a film specifically filmed in 3D (non of this fake clash of the titans post processing shit).. but as for consumer products go, it just reminds me of that scene in the film Toys with robin williams and co sat on the sofas wearing the glasses.

Luckily, I cannot find the youtube clip to post here
