I have a 40x60 ish castle + town area that I built myself, logged on today and it was griefed a bit, mostly added cobble and water spam, very few things deleted, mostly it looked like whoever did it was just making paths to where he wanted to go. Of note is that the letters G U were written outside the front entrance quite large.

EDIT: Oh, and there were some leaf blocks placed as well, if that helps at all.

That was great English, you should try to teach the Americans here as their English is frankly appalling.

We'll keep an eye out as there has been a lot of griefing lately.

We have two possible griefers; the leaf griefer (Now possibly GU) and the sign griefer (The one pretending to be me). They will be found and brought to justice.

Hey, not all of us. Hafnium does a good job, and I like to think I do (though I do use contractions in writing, which is a no-no, apparently).

But, actually, that English is not half bad. I know high school students who write worse, and they've only taken it as a class twelve years.

Also, Ollie, one thing to notice is that sign grief generally comes with other grief. As a result, it's not uncommon for a sign griefer to get banned for other reasons. That said, we really do need a /hide (and /patrol?) for SMP for supops/trustees?

Yeah I had to clear up a ton of signs as soon as I ported to the new map, so it must be pretty frequent. We need tools to moderate, I do surprise checks on people, but then they start looking into why you're looking into them

Yes, we seem to be getting griefed all over the world daily now. Personally, I have put all my projects on hold and have been repairing griefed objects. From my exploration, the majority of the grief seems to be in the new world, and quite randomly. However in the old world, the griefs all seem to be targeted. As an example, yesterday, I came in game, and fixed some grief hit showed me on my home. About an hour later, the exact same spot was griefed again, giving me the impression that it's targeted attacks.

As others have said, the griefers WILL be caught, it's only a matter of time. Meanwhile, if your building gets griefed and I am in game, /msg me and I will be there as soon as my crummy graphics card lets me and I will repair the damage the best I can.

This is survival, so don't get down about it. In the meantime, learn all you can about craftbook and lwc, those two combined can help protect you and your valuables quite well.

Some thing I discovered with city zoning is that if you are selling lots in your zoned town the buyer DOES NOT have to be given build rights if you do the following

Pre build houses an fit them out with chests furnaces ect
AND
use /lwc -c private on chests and furnaces THEN
use /lwc -m @<Player name who buys the lot>

My town will be using this. You will not be able to modify builds only use the building and the chests and furnaces i provide. If you want extras (Someone asked if they could have a painting) I am more than happy to add it as long as the lots still look uniform.

Its wierd everyone is talking about getting griefed but when I log on and PW to my town Im not griefed at
all , Does it matter if im in the new world ... or are they targeting "GOOD" builds?

Planitia - I think half the fun of people buying lots is that they get to build their OWN house.

Maybe turn block tracking on for a day or so just to catch these griefers?

Well Xes I will probably be doing the same thing for half or 3/4 of the new district in my city for the sole reason of looking at the place and having a theme. It won't be a billion of the same house, it will be tiered, but I like the idea. There will be limited empty lots of course.

OK, the grief is pissing me off. Another guy just found his house utterly destroyed - even including protected chests, which would indicate that they were griefed with a hacked client that can i.e. delete blocks without triggering the protected hooks. I don't believe any OP+ would have done this.

They left a sign saying it was "The Phantoms", which means we have a group who finds it hilarious to grief other people's stuff - perhaps the tards from Orcworm's butthurt-server? Dunno, for now we will be able to find out who did it - all OPs+ can check the block history with the Watch or by placing an adminium block in the given spot (only SupOPs+ have access to adminium blocks, so you might as well place a NEW block there and then use a Watch on it since it'll show the last 10 edits anyway).

Details are in this thread:

http://forum.hey0.net/showthread.php?tid=478

P.S. Only trustees can rollback.

Will there be a way to get a watch, or will I have to suck it up and buy one?

Actually, I don't know of any 'Phantoms', nor this 'GU' - Maybe GriefAlert with sign logging would be a good idea? Works great when paired with BigBrother, from my experience anyway.

Oh, and I don't know where you got the idea of myself or anyone from my server being "butthurt", it's great running a server of my own.

Actually there were some raiding parties coming over, apparently. That's what was reported to me.
