I think it's time to celebrate the death of the shittiest game ever! 19 games in 5 years is kind of cool, don't you think?

For any of you who liked the game, you can go cry to your mommy. :D :-11 :49 :10 :9 :4 :4

I'm glad it is dead. 19 games in 5 years isn't impressive really, it just means they did a good copy and paste job.

This is a company owned by Activision we're talking about here. It usually goes in the same way.

Guitar Hero and the games it inspired were fine as party titles... FOR PERHAPS THE FIRST TWO THEY RELEASED. All the stuff they "made" later, which were actually only branded versions with some more songs were just utter bullshit and another case of a company milking the market as much and as quickly as possible.

Post subject:  Re: RIP Guitar Hero... NOT!

tbh, the thing with this series is, once you've played van halens on a prayer 100 times, your ready for a new catalogue of songs for your party...

So i dont think making 19 games in 5 years was bad... because its not like they have 2 years playability, each game is just an expansion - the whole buying a new guitar was what makes it bullshit.

Author:  Lim-Dul [ 17 Feb 2011, 02:40 ]
Post subject:  Re: RIP Guitar Hero... NOT!

Making each game full-priced on top of that was bullshit. They should have just released all the songs and albums as DLC.

Indeed Lim.
I loved the first games that Harmonix did. None of the later I tried out beat GH 1 & 2, probably because of the songs there being awesome ^^

Can't play these games, failed on the easiest track. Anyway, they saturated their own market and then wonder why no one buys the games anymore.

I could only play Heart Shape Box and Monkey Wrench, but I found the whole thing mundane. It was basically just like the pop idol game.

Except you'd buy an over priced plastic guitar for it. Just buy a guitar, print some tabs, and be done with it.

Odd, I could've said exactly the same thing... Those games were a disgrace to the guitar, still are... All my friends jizzed in their pants when the first came out, now they're crying for the 60€ they lost.

The guitar is not something you just bang with your fingers, and flip a switch back and forth. It is not a tool either. It is a precious instrument, NOT meant for 7y/o. kids to play with (unless they are musicians). Unlike the GH guitar. And it (GH g.) is an electrical guitar... They are ugly. Most of the time. My Ibanez Artcore AF75 (SB) is beautiful, though.

And what's even more sad, is that those 7y/o. kids think they can play the guitar, and their parents buy them a 500€ guitar... Then the kid wanks the guitar for a few days and it will be left in the closet, sucking dust...

You do understand that it's a game, right? It's like saying Time Crisis is a disgrace to the gun, or the Wii a disgrace to tennis or golf or bowilng :demm:

Well, if the games were a disgrace to the guitar (which is silly to say as others pointed out but still):

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/03 ... rocksmith/

A game that will be using REAL guitars for input. Are we crossing into educational game territory now? It might still be a fun way of learning how to play. =)

Again, I fail to see how its a disgrace, ones a guitar shaped controller for a party game the other is a musical instrument.

Also, its sad for a 7 year old to think he can play a guitar? Really? I'll admit its sad for a kids parents to buy them an instrument that cost £500 and then he hardly touches it, but thats mainly because they pointlessly spent 500 on a guitar when they could have easily brought him a cheap one to play to see if he wants to even take it up.

But sad for a 7 year old? Really?

Lame, I did that a few years ago with a free Singstar-like game for PC, where I could create patterns myself. Easy. But still.

Post subject:  Re: RIP Guitar Hero... NOT!

I've got GH II and World Tour. The rest of them seemed superfluous and useless to me.

The "plastic guitar" idea... I loved it, because at its release date I really wanted to learn to play guitar but I just couldn't, because I sucked at it. Then World Tour came out and it let you play all three instruments! Cool!

But err, then there's the other SIXTEEN useless ones. Why add so much onto a franchise when you can just make it DLC, as Lim said?

Ah well, it's been and gone. Time for something new, like a Holodeck! That'd be awesome. "Mum, I'm going to go skydiving!"

"Make sure you set the safety parameters!"

"...FINE."

The future awaits!

I know ;3 or so they say. I don't know about that, when I think of it... I just appreciate musical instruments, often over people too.

EDIT: I love you all, though.
