Do you know what you’re applying for?
Yeah, only being a noted member of the most awesome people on the internet!
More seriously, though, yes. I've been hanging out with Minecraft for a long while now, and I'm beginning to move on over to TF2 a little. I love the SpA guys I know, and would like to join their ranks.
Do we know who you are?
Well, I'm active on the forums in the Minecraft sub-section, I'm not a total stranger to Mumble, though I don't have a working mic (mix of system audio being funny, crappy mike, speech impediment, blahblahblah). I'm also on Minecraft a lot (i.e. at least 100 hours this year), so almost everyone from Minecraft knows me (though admittedly I'm on at US times, which means I miss out on a lot of the community).
Are you gonna make a good server admin?
Well, I've been on SpA's Minecraft servers (Generally SMP until recently when I moved back to Freebuild) for about 6 months, about half of that being in a Op/Supop (kick/ban permission) position. Admittedly, I sometimes shoot from the hip a little more than is nice (self-realized and probably realized by others), but I try to make prudent and sound judgments that are fair to everyone involved.
Do you have a sense of fun?
Yeah, I can be pretty light-hearted and friendly. I joke a lot, but try to keep it appropriate (though I don't mind dirty jokes, I try not to make a habit of telling them myself). Also, I like to think that when I do stuff, I don't necessarily do it to compete (though I do do it to the fullest), but to have fun with people.
My goal in playing online is to try to help everyone have the best experience possible, which then leads to me having fun when I witness others having fun.
Can you accept that you aren’t going to please all of the people all of the time; and vice-versa?
Yes. I have a somewhat loud and boisterous (large ham of a) personality, which often gets the better of my efforts to remain professional and laid back, so I often put people off who assumed I was more sedate at a glance. Similarly, I tend to like quiet, even though I don't really preach what I practice, so I tend to butt heads with people who have a similar persona (unless we're friends and are boisterous and loud together), or people who don't ever say anything (I like to know what people think, and I make my thoughts clear). However, I try to always remain polite and friendly.
Can you bring anything else to the table?
I've got some graphic design skills, though they are more theoretical than applied, since I will admit lacking terribly much drawing skills to compliment them (i.e. I can't draw anything, but I can trace/do design).
I also have some knowledge of Latin, though it works better translating from than translating to.
Personal Info:
First name: Kyle (I don't give my last because a) I don't use it much, only for legal/paperwork stuff that absolutely requires it and b) paranoid family blahblahblah force of habit)
Age: 18
I like to think I'm somewhat mature, though I'll admit to being somewhat silly and lighthearted at times. I try to uphold a professional standard for myself, at all times, despite my silliness.
I'm just under 6' (around 2 meters) tall (arbitrary milestone fail, DAMMIT!) and wear/collect trenchcoats a ton (though I promise not to shoot anyone IRL, and, by the looks of my performance, in TF2 either).
I'm into tabletop games, namely Shadowrun, though I'll play almost anything. Same for video games, though I haven't played Shadowrun as much there (though the Genesis one is awesome, and the SNES one is good).
My musical styles are limited, mostly to classical/metal/fusion/upbeat stuff (which means pretty much everything but rap, which I can tolerate if it's not just about money and drugs and women or other stuff I ain't got). I love the works of Chopin, especially Sonata #2 in B Flat Minor (it has uplifting moments that make it perfect for a pick-me-up and somber moments that help bring one down to earth).
Favorite colors: Orange and blue, followed closely by green.
Career goals: English teacher!
