Creepy... Though funny if it would come to the point where whole communities consisted exclusively of these humbugs from different companies. Especially if they shared the same market ^^ |

Like a year or two ago I theorised exactly this, but thought it was almost a little sci-fi, to have fake personas backed up with artificial profiles and identities. Sounds silly, but I seriously theorised individuals managing mutiple online identities to do all sorts of things. For that reason, I find this quite disturbing, especially when the internet can be so influential on people, it's like a nightmare come true ![]() |

Drink Alcohol: HsucoweBCc;0uobjSDV.;CVBVCB AL BAa;cbef;oevubava';V TODAY! On another, less serious note, however, how could I apply for one of those jobs as an obnoxious fucking d-bag that Activision hires to Astrosurf on behalf of their myriad of vomit enducing franchises? That seems like a pretty OK job to me. All I'd need to do to apply would be to headbutt cinder blocks until my IQ dropped to around 40, then simply go to Youtube or Gametrailers and start spouting repugnant bullshit. Civil Minded Poster - 'Tbh, although I liked some of the gameplay elements of Modern Warfare, the whole package just felt a little too simplified for my liking. Multiplayer was a complete mixed bag in terms of balance sometimes, and a lot of the time I felt like it was too easy for the enemy to get behind my team and wipe us out. Plus those damned helicopters. ![]() Activision Astrosurfer - 'FUK U PRIK! U'RE JUST NUT GUD AND ARE A FAT WANK! GO BACK AND PLAY HALO YOU PRIK!' Wonder what my hourly rate would be... |

This cracked me open quite loudly in the officeWonder what my hourly rate would be... Astrosurfing seems like just the thing a bunch of self-loving individuals would pay people to do so as to make more money from unsuspecting people prone to conformity over a place as large and varied as the internet. Seriously, coercing people without them knowing it to support and/or buy your product sounds just like the sort of thing they'd do. But hearing about it happening now? I find it a tad surprising. But I do suppose a lot of their potential customers DO exist around forums, and that the act of Astrosurfing to try and change the opinions of others or to make them sound rather stupid or ignorant is a legitimate marketing method... From their point of view. It's more of a stupid form of trickery imo, and it sounds more like a conspiracy theory from twenty years into the future when we all have jetpacks and fly on seals instead of planes. |
