Reasons being:

It's useful for announcing any updates, be it server updates, game updates etc.
People can follow and RT the tweets
Good way of getting feedback on any announcements
It can be synced up on to the homepage

Just another way to keep in touch and allow others to follow what is going on in the world of SpA :mrgreen:

Facebook is actually quite useful for organising events for certain groups of friends and the like, where-as twitter has no value. Towards spa having a twitter account I am indifferent, so no rants here ;)

Dunno, I see a point in twitter, very quick, clear, concise way to make short announcements. Its like any web application the way its used may not be great but the application itself is pretty clever, plus its no worse than group SMS.

It's an ideal tool for us to broadcast short messages such as server reboots, maintenance, small changes etc. We where missing a system to do this as we rather wanted it on the frontpage(see new box at the frontpage, right top side), but don't want to post a news item for every small thing. Before we used to post on the forums but that's too scattered around.

Well I'll definitely follow spa on twitter. I made an account a couple of years back as a good way to advertise my work and stuff... never really have used it for that since getting it tbh but thats what I still think twitter is for- spam and advertising, and it works...

... plus the occasional stalking of celebrities

Yeah, it sucks if used for personal reasons but I think it's a good tool for announcing stuff - like we are using it apparently. You are outsourcing the engine instead of implementing one yourself and needlessly reinventing the wheel. ^^
